Compensation : $1,730.77 Biweekly

Overview :

Memphis Music Initiative (MMI) invests in youth, local communities, and Memphis’ musical legacy by broadening and strengthening existing music engagement offerings in and out of schools and supporting youth-centered, community-based music programs.

• Through various investment strategies, MMI seeks to : 1) sustain existing in-school music engagement and expand instruction through partnerships with local musicians;
• 2) expand high-quality, out-of-school programs to reach more youth and remove barriers to youth engagement and participation;

and 3) support organizations that are providing music engagement to enhance their sustainability and scale high quality programming.

Position Summary : The Office Assistant works closely and professionally with all staff to provide office support and perform administrative tasks.

Essential Functions :

• Provide administrative support to staff
• Answer incoming calls
• Coordinate projects and events including logistics for meetings, catering, etc.
• Manage MMI’s company calendar
• Place orders for and manage office supplies
• Generate and send correspondences such as memos, emails, and s
• Handle a variety of partnerships and grantmaking database management, event coordination, and project management
• Manage and update internal databases
• Submit check requests
• Respond to questions and process information requests

Other Functions :

• Assume other office duties as assigned
• Coordinate meetings / projects, note taking as assigned by Executive Director

Minimum Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or GED and two – three years of administrative support experience
• Ability to navigate a computer system with a high level of proficiency with MS Office and Google Suites software to produce communications, s, presentations, spreadsheets, etc.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Ability to leverage digital and social media applications and technology to support new and ongoing projects
• Three years of project management experience
• Experience working in nonprofit, philanthropic, social justice, or youth development organizations that advocate for and / or develop Black and brown youth

Working Conditions :

• This position has dual ing responsibility to the Director of Grantmaking and Partnerships.
• Normal work hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm with an hour for lunch.
• Work is performed onsite in an office environment.
• The role uses standard office equipment such as computers / laptops, phones, copier / scanner / fax machines, file cabinets, as well as electronic files, cloud storage, and software programs routinely.

Physical Demands :

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate orally and in writing with staff, partners, community organizations, community leaders, grantors, grantees, legislators, and others.
• Must be able to lift or move items up to 15 pounds if necessary.
• Must be able to stand, walk, see, lift, reach, stretch, and move with agility to complete some essential functions
