About the role:

The Finance Systems Accountant provides maintenance and development of Melbourne Polytechnic’s core financial system, Technology One Financials. The position analyses and enhances the delivery of functions and services in support of the Finance System, and supports the training of its end users to ensure the effective operation of the Finance and Commercial Department.

Duties:

System Administration

Assist in the management and maintenance of Melbourne Polytechnic’s Finance System (Technology One Financials, including Budgeting, ETL, XL One Reporting, Workflow, Business Intelligence, Supply Chain, Contract Management) whilst maintain the integrity and security of data in the Finance System.

Provide user maintenance and access to functions for end users to improve and deliver services in support of Finance Systems (whilst understanding the impact of accounting and business concepts)

System Development

Provide analysis of current system processes, modification development and enhancement of functions in the system.

Lead projects by reviewing business needs and designing streamlined automation processes, including development with extensive testing and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

Finance Administration

Provide maintenance and integrity of the Finance Chart of Accounts, streamline imports to associated systems (eg. Student, Payroll, Banking, ATO) and support Finance staff with end of month variables and reporting requirements.

User Training & Assistance

Develop and maintain user manuals and procedures to help simplify tasks with co-ordinate and support regular training sessions

Skills and experience required:

• Relevant Degree and relevant post graduate qualification and experience; or lesser formal qualifications with extensive experience with management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of computer based financial systems, with experience in Technology One Financials an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse current or potential problems in a computerised financial system, and develop projects to improve and enhance process and user ability.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a project scope, to coordinate complex business activities and implement improved outcomes.
