The Role

Megaport is looking for an energetic, independent, self managing Software QA Engineer to create and run manual and automated testing on the in-house developed software systems. There are many active software projects ongoing, so this is a great opportunity to get involved at the requirements gathering stage to ensure high quality delivery from the very start.

We are looking for someone who leaps out of bed and says “give me your REST API, and I shall break it, so you can make it better”; someone who is motivated to contribute to the delivery of quality software products on a consistent basis, someone who is willing to keep learning new things every day. The right person will value their time enough to heavily automate the testing process, and hassle internal stakeholders mercilessly until they verify their issues are fixed in the QA system.

What you’ll be doing

• The primary focus of this role is to work as a member of the development team to maintain and improve the quality of the systems being deployed.

• Understand requirements, specifications, and how Megaport products work in general as the basis for formulating effective automated and manual tests.

• Create and maintain comprehensive and effective test plans and test cases.

• Participate in the software release process with a focus on satisfying automated and manual testing.

• Progressively automate manual tests.

• Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies.

What we are looking for

• Experience testing web applications and RESTful APIs.

• 2+ years experience in software quality assurance.

• Ability to ‘come up to speed’ quickly with new products and their supporting systems.

• Experience with testing tools like Postman, RestAssured, Selenium, Cucumber or JBehave.

• Productive in one or two scripting languages and/or testing tools.

• Demonstrated technical capability (such as reading code, exploring a relational database).

• Experience with JavaScript, Java, C++ or similar programming languages, JIRA, Confluence, Git, Continuous integration tools.

• An agile mindset with the ability to work in a transparent and collaborative manner.

• Knowledge of Telco industry products and processes will be well regarded.

• Ability to work with little supervision.
