Role and Facility Information: Medical Clinic in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a highly qualified family physician to join our dynamic healthcare team. We strive to provide quality medical treatment and serve our community by providing excellent service with a family approach in a convenient one-stop setting. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing primary care services to patients, diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications: Applicants require a Medical Degree and eligibility for licensure, in good standing, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, as well as current Canadian Medical Protection Association, or equivalent, coverage. Applicants should also have a Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP) designation (or eligibility). Eligibility for a faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia, School of Medicine is required.

Requirements:

• Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License – Provisional
• Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Mandatory
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct clinical services to patients (conduct patient assessments, diagnose illnesses and prescribe treatment).
• Foster a collaborative inter-professional practice environment.
• Work with a self-directed team of physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve excellence in patient-centered care.
• Provide team-based care along with an interdisciplinary team (NP / MD / RN / SW / allied health).
• Provide substance use services, assessments, supports, and opiate agonist treatment.
• Provide trauma-informed care to patients with multiple complex health care needs (i.e., HIV, Hep C, mental health/substance use) and psychosocial complexity.
• Participate in a predictable weekday schedule as well as a call schedule which includes evening, weekend, and statutory holiday coverage.
• Provide outreach or home visits as needed within the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide learning opportunities and support for students/residents.
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
• Provide proactive chronic disease management.
• Take part in interdisciplinary team engagement events/opportunities.
• Participate in educational opportunities to advance practice and patient outcomes.

• Knowledge and skills in health promotion and prevention strategies.
• Awareness of and sensitivity to patients from diverse ethnic backgrounds and/or with diverse cultural beliefs and practices.
• LGBTQ2S healthcare.
• Trauma informed practice and culturally safe care for Indigenous peoples.
• Familiarity with transgender care (an asset).
• Communicable diseases, including sexually transmitted infections, HIV, Hepatitis C.
• Desire to serve complex clients.
• Interest in supporting chronic disease management models of service delivery.
• Comprehensive family practice background.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team setting.
