We are looking for a self-motivated Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. Supporting the Financial Accountant, the Assistant Accountant plays an important role in the organisation, ensuring that mecwacares’ financial accounting is compliant and maintained at the highest standard. The Assistant Accountant will observe audit and regulatory requirements, whilst maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This is a three-year contract with opportunity for extension.

What you bring:

• A relevant tertiary qualification and membership of a recognised professional body or near completion.
• Working knowledge of Australian accounting standards, statutory requirements, regulations and practices which apply to accounting in the aged care sector.
• Experience working in a medium to large size organisation in an accounting role.
• Highly developed excel skills.
• Experience and a high level of proficiency with Finance systems.
• Sound administrative and organisational skills.
• High degree of accuracy with attention to detail.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritise multiple completing tasks effectively.

Desirable:

• Dynamics Great Plains system experience
