MECCA Brands Hiring for Designer at Richmond, Victoria, Australia Full Time

The Position

As a key player in the Design team, your responsibilities will include concepting and implementing brand identities, campaigns and promotional communications across all channels (i.e. print, VM, in-store-signage, digital, social, out-of-home advertising, packaging, promotional, paid-ads etc.). Your role will also extend to support on ad-hoc design requirements briefed in from other departments.

You will have the ability to work at a high-level under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, work well within a team and display excellent communication abilities. You will have the ability to see a project through from initial conception stage to print and/or web ready finished art. Attention to detail, an appreciation for a luxe, leading retail environment (online and in-store), and the ability to be both commercially sensible, yet creatively ambitious, will be essential to succeeding in your role.

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work with the Marketing team to design concepts for brand, seasonal and promotional marketing communications and show how the concept can be rolled out across all touchpoints – store windows, promotional signage, website, social, paid
• A passion for creating designs that build on our brand identity
• Be a creative guardian and understand and oversee any individual design aesthetics relative to specific MECCA channels or brands
• Create accurate finished art, with a high level of attention to detail
• Be a subject matter expert for design and trends in marketplace
• Concept and design roll out for ad hoc creative briefs (new packaging, packaging updates, event collateral etc.)
• Adhere to brand guidelines across the channels and assist to develop standards
• Work on brand presentations and pitches

Core competencies

• Able to ideate, create and concept with creative flair
• Experience in designing for a 360 brand (across all channels)
• A solid understanding of typography principles and best practice
• Good understanding of branding and working with brand style guides
• Strong finished art experience, with a good understanding of print pre-press
• A good understanding of how static designs translate into code
• Highly organised, and able to thrive in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
• Embraces challenges and new methods of thinking
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage timelines
• The ability to present your designs and ideas to senior stakeholders and be responsible and adept at gathering, processing and actioning feedback

Qualification & Experience

• 3+ years’ experience either for an agency or a leading brand with an omni-channel presence.
• A tertiary qualification in Visual Communications Design, Multimedia or similar.
• Strong, demonstrable technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite, and other creative tools to image-make and communicate.
• Experience in packaging design, finished artwork and print-ready file preparation.
• Experience designing digital campaigns that include but not limited to EDMs, social media posts (paid and organic) is preferred.
• Figma or AfterEffects experience is desirable but not required.
• Solid presentation skills with client stakeholders and excellent written communication skills.
• Agency/Studio experience is desirable.
