McLaren Racing Hiring for Senior Finance Manager Job at Woking, England Full Time

This position is to support the Head of Financial Control in providing a first-class financial service for McLaren Racing Limited.

The post holder will:

• Ensure the accuracy, completeness and classification of the Financial Statements and accounts for McLaren Racing and its subsidiaries
• Manage and develop direct reports in the team, setting appropriate and challenging objectives, with regular appraisal and tracking of performance objectives
• Measure and manage the companies working capital performance and drive best practice into the various teams
• Review monthly Balance sheet reconciliations and review the completeness of accruals and provisions. Manage the monthly actions from this
• Oversee and review accurate and timely completion of month end/year end financials including submission to the Group consolidation system
• Responsible for reviewing the external statutory reporting and compliance, including the audit process for McLaren Racing and its subsidiaries & prepare statutory accounts for all entities managed
• Review of submission to Group of Monthly UK VAT returns, before giving to the Head of Financial Control to sign off
• Development of financial systems, and finance process to improve efficiency, performance, and repeatability of tasks
• Be a driver of change and improvement to make process more efficient and ensure our talent can exercise their value add to the Business
• Manage and ensure the team have correctly accounted for the various revenue streams, ensuring at a high-level GM makes sense at month end,
• Collaboration with the Business Partnering and Forecasting team and sound understanding of the Business Structure to ensure that the financial systems are set up to capture and report appropriately – minimising manual interference and working towards self-service reporting capability.
• Safeguard the company’s assets and enhance the working capital through compliance with appropriate policies and procedures (payment terms, expense policies etc).
• Other ad hoc tasks as required by the Head of Financial Control

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

Staff management

• Assist the Head of Financial Control in developing the strategy for the F1 business, ensuring cohesion across other series,
• Managing the sub-team leaders to meet the internal and external requirements
• Provide clear instructions and direction to employees to ensure the appropriate prioritsation of work
• Provide leadership and direction in staff development, set measurable objectives, and provide mid-year and end of year reviews

Year end

• Oversight of the preparation of Annual Report for the consolidated and individual Company
• Management of the external auditors in the completion of the statutory audits for McLaren Racing and its subsidiaries.
• Responsible for timely completion of audit and tax packs, ensuring the work is appropriately distributed across the team
• Ensuring the transactional team meet Group deadlines

Month end

• Ensure underlying ledgers are closed on a timely basis
• Review ledgers monthly for accuracy and for completeness
• Attend month end review meetings and provide insight into the month end numbers against forecast and budgets

• Ensure all Group Companies align to, ensuring that all aspects are conducted in line with latest accounting standards. Key areas include:
• Accruals and prepayments
• Tangible and intangible assets
• Ensuring all control and other balance sheet accounts are reconciled

Cashflow

• Oversight of the inputs to weekly cashflow submissions for payments and receipts, and management of best practice.

• Supporting the Head of Financial Control in setting up best practice for cash flow forecasting

Financial regulations and legislation

• Keep abreast of changes and inform management of developments applicable
• Implement changes as necessary

Process and control

• Ensure all processes are documented
• Continually seek to amend processes to improve efficiency
• Ensure adequate control is implemented over all financial transactions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• ACA or ACCA qualified

• Experience of preparing company accounts and/or responsibility for running audits in practice, or in a financial accounting role in industry. If coming from practice, a demonstrable readiness to make the transition to industry.

• Experience dealing with all aspects of UK tax, particularly VAT. Desirable is an understanding of tax in the US

• Proven record working in, and leading a team

• Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel

• Experience of using a financial accounting software package

• Demonstratable healthy scepticism to challenge and improve existing practices
