McKinley Architecture and Engineering is growing and in need of a full-time Mechanical Engineer, PE to join our team. McKinley Architecture and Engineering is seeking qualified individuals that will be able to acclimate quickly and “hit the ground running”. McKinley Architecture and Engineering currently has three offices, Wheeling, WV – Wexford, PA and Charleston, WV. Our P.E. staff is responsible for developing and leading the process to manage the expression of engineering, design, and project management. They act as a manager to ensure that MKA projects follow the appropriate design vision, participate as a team member on major global projects, and document the objectives, requirements, and recommendations in the MKA standards.

While this is NOT a remote job, a certain amount of remote work is possible based on employer needs and employee experience level.

Job Description Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer will coordinate with the engineering and architectural staff, work directly with Clients, develop and design projects in conformance with engineering professional ethics and standards.

Position Qualifications:

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of West Virginia or with ability to obtain;
• 10+ years of engineering experience in designing HVAC systems for commercial and educational buildings of but not limited to the follow types: heating and chilled water plants, water source heat pump, VAV, radiant floor, and variable refrigerant flow systems;
• Perform environmental load calculations, preferably with the Carrier HAPS program;
• Ability to edit/author mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing, & Fire Protection) specifications and estimate mechanical system constructions costs.
• Experience/proficiency in design skills utilizing Autodesk MEP Desktop & Revit a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interact and communicate effectively with clients, design team members, project consultants, and contractors;
• Work closely within the design team, including the Project Manager, Project Engineers, and Project Architects, while supporting or leading the development of design deliverables;
• Assist in the development of overall project goals, design criteria, project budgets, and schedule requirements;
• Design HVAC systems & assist in the plumbing and fire protection system design for buildings;
• Perform load calculation, mechanical equipment selections, author equipment and product specifications;
• Provide consulting services, including field investigations, trouble shoot equipment deficiencies and preparation of technical and feasibility s;
• Establish design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects;
• Take responsible charge for the mechanical designs and address any E & O issues;
• Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of the assigned project design budgets;
• Signs and seals project mechanical engineering construction documents and regulatory permitting submittals, as well as certifications of substantial completion for submittal to regulatory agencies for final approval and/or acceptance
• Provide a high level of technical and personal leadership.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
