McGregor’s Butcher & Bistro is a locally owned single location food and dining concept with an “upscale casual” Bistro and in-house Butcher Shop offering premium meats, seafood and gourmet ingredients. We’re passionate about serving great food, providing customers an elevated and memorable dining experience, and always excited to share food knowledge to create connections with fellow foodies. A creative and ever-changing menu will help us achieve our goal of being the “go to” destination for dining out and for the purchase of fine foods in Southern Johnson County KS.

We are looking to hire an experienced Executive Chef who has a passion for creating innovative dishes and leading a first class team of culinary professionals.

Our EC will collaborate with the Leadership Team (Owner, GM, and EC) to bring a new restaurant concept to life in an active Johnson County suburb. The EC’s responsibilities include fresh ideas for menu development, building an efficient and motivated kitchen team, and providing an excellent and memorable dining experience to build a loyal customer following. The EC will be the “face of the restaurant” and must be at ease in front of the camera and in public presentations.

• Oversee all kitchen operations including food prep, taking inventory and placing orders.
• Hire, train, develop and mentor kitchen staff ensuring all persons are performing their duties quickly and efficiency.
• Ensure all dishes are cooked correctly and plated in an elegant manner.
• Plan the menu to guarantee each dish is unique, delicious and cost effective.
• Assure food is of excellent quality and is served in a timely manner.
• Uphold strict kitchen cleanliness standards maintain a spotless work environment.
• Receive feedback from the General Manager and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain an exemplary culinary team including hiring, training, developing, coaching and counseling and conduct performance reviews
• Lead, motivate and supervise team to work cohesively to ensure service meets our high standards
• Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards
• Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
• Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
• Rectify arising problems or complaints
• Give prepared plates the “final touch”
• Perform administrative duties
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Keep time and payroll records
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers in alignment with company values
• Responsible for designing hands-on educational cooking workshops twice annually for public participation

Education, Experience and Skills Requirements

• Culinary school degree or equivalent past Executive Chef work history
• Great attention to detail and strong work ethic
• Passionate culinarian with great palette and sense of presentation
• Excellent record of kitchen management
• Ability to multitask with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
• Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
• Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work, and hold staff accountable for tasks
• Poseses positive conflict resolution skills and have the drive to manage a culinary team
• Ability to work an entire shift on your feet in a stressful environment
• Communication and leadership skills
• Organized and able to hit deadlines on time
• Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
• Spanish speaking is a positive
• Display reading, writing, math and computer skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
