McGraw Hill Hiring for Digital Academic Designer (Project) – Remote at Ohio Full Time

A successful Digital Academic Designer will have a combination of project management, stellar communication, and technical abilities. They will manage how digital courses are built and maintained. They will be able to identify areas where scalable, repeatable, and templated production builds can be sent out to vendors to bring down costs and improve the speed of production. They build templates and guidelines, train the authoring teams, and provide technical support all while focusing on the complex, design-based technical builds which enhance the digital programs MHE is building.

**This is a remote position and will be filled as a 12-month Project Status Worker (PSW) designation. . **

The responsibilities of the position include:

• Manage course build process. Understand course build dependencies and milestones; create internal documentation; and coordinate vendor build, vendor QA, and internal course build teams.
• Identify and troubleshoot course build issues and communicate effects of project changes on schedule and delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build functional prototypes, using current technology, that are based on approved design strategy.
• Help train and onboard digital production vendors by reviewing work and providing feedback during product build cycles. Serve as an ongoing interactive consultant as needs surface during the implementation of the template builds.
• Use Smartsheet to build trackers and populate them with metadata.
• Develop any supporting documentation/guidelines, identify scalable needs, and develop a library of reproducible build tools for the internal/external build teams.
• Problem-solve with the team to address areas where the current technology could not support the design strategy.
• Analyze the functional prototype and begin to frame the “how” for implementation.
• Stress test recommendations and/or new development features to identify authoring impacts and additional user needs.
• Perform reviews making sound layout design recommendations and/or adjustments for interactive templates and media, as necessary based on style guides and instructions.

We’re looking for someone with:

• A Bachelor’s degree is required. A focus on instructional design or digital design is preferred or equivalent years of experience.
• Excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to manage internal projects as well as on-shore and off-shore vendors is required.
• Composition and/or layout experience in digital publishing utilizing digital content authoring tools is preferred.
• Experience with Smartsheet is preferred.
• Experience with Habitat is preferred.

The average base salary range for this position is around $50,000 – $55,000 annually, however, base salary pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, such as a company provided vehicle, depending on the position offered.
