Under the direction of the Director of Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for assisting our recruiting team with attorney hiring across our seventeen offices in twelve states and Washington, DC as well as assisting with hiring initiatives for our summer program and with staff hiring projects. The ideal candidate will be professional with excellent communication and organizational skills. This position requires a high level of collaboration with attorneys and staff and the ability to work independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Draft job postings, and creatively source candidates using a variety of methods, including search firms, internal referrals, and leads, online research of targets and prospects, and use of internet resources such as LinkedIn.
• Review resumes, conduct phone screening interviews, and work with the Hiring Attorney in each office to schedule interviews, the offer process, and follow-up efforts.
• Obtain reference checks, background checks, and due diligence on associate candidates; and see the hiring process through the offer and acceptance stage.
• Assist the Director of Talent Acquisition with lateral partner hiring, including facilitating the due diligence process, review of lateral hiring forms, reference checks, background checks, and presentation of candidates to Firm Management.
• Perform proactive candidate sourcing using various software, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate with hiring attorneys on multiple searches simultaneously.
• Maintain recruiting statistics and prepare reports, surveys, and presentations as needed on these hiring statistics.
• Support the summer associate program, which includes assisting with the coordination of on-campus recruiting and in-office interview programs, assisting with interview schedules, the offer process, and follow-up efforts.
• Collaborate with several departments and firm management for special projects including human resources, business development, and special events.
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks, completing all under time constraints, and while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.
• Develop effective relationships within the firm and the legal recruitment community to have a positive influence and impact on the firm’s recruiting program.
• Provide administrative support for various recruiting initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Knowledge of law firm or legal recruiting and familiarity with LinkedIn and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) such as VI Recruit.
• Bachelor’s degree required. JD is helpful but not required.
• 3 to 5 years of experience within a recruiting department or recruiting agency. Prior experience with a law firm is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of legal requirements affecting employment, interviewing, and background checking processes.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate in person, via email, or by telephone with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and the public, providing information with ordinary courtesy and tact, while safeguarding confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate effectively through strong professional writing skills.
• Familiarity with recruiting, especially using social media to attract candidates.
• Track record of recruiting high caliber talent and with periods of significant volume.
• Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to quickly become proficient with new and/or upgraded desktop/business office software and electronic environments.
• Ability to prepare and proofread material for context, grammar, typographical and spelling errors.
• Flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week in order to perform the essential duties of the position.
