The VPN group is hiring a Windows developer to help us build private, secure, and beautifully designed bear-themed apps that are used by over 40M people around the world. As part of the core VPN team, you’ll be working closely with product, design, backend, and security specialists to create the next generation of VPN apps and SDKs.

The work will involve building a security-hardened VPN client that combines a world-class user experience with fast and reliable connections that operate under all types of network conditions, from hard-wired fibre connections to spotty Wi-Fi where TunnelBear is actively being blocked. You’ll be combining expertise in networking, security, software design, and debugging, and as a result you can expect to grow into a sharper, more flexible, and versatile programmer. You can also count on being surrounded by an inclusive, helpful team that will support and strengthen challenges alongside you. You will be reporting to Engineering Manager.

About the role

Build and maintain the TunnelBear Windows App

Write clear, concise, well-tested code in C#, and occasionally in C++ and other languages.

Develop and maintain our cross-platform VPN SDK

Knowledge share through code reviews and mentorship

Work with our connection analytics and censorship circumvention teams to improve our VPN network

Author the occasional bear-themed pun (optional).

About You

You will have 4 plus years of experience building apps on .NET and WPF.

You will be familiar with C++ and Win32 APIs and Windows networking systems.

You will have broader perspective with a wider team, and look forward to both giving and receiving feedback.

You should be flexible and eager that touch different (and maybe unfamiliar) areas of the stack, and not afraid to from fundamentals.

You have demonstrated ownership and pride over your projects and are.

You have, ability to tailor communication based on the audience (business vs. technical).
