What you’ll be doing:
Health & Safety:
Work in a safe manner and maintain cleanliness and safety of own work area;
Contribute to overall cleanliness and safety of the company by assisting as required;
Understand and comply with all applicable health and safety requirements and regulations (i.e. Caframo Health & Safety System)
Comply with all legislative requirements (i.e. OHSA, WHMIS, etc.);
Comply with all WHMIS requirements
Report any hazardous situations to a manager
Participate in company health and safety inspections as required.
Production Line Set-up:
Prepare and set-up lines for supervisor review and sign-off
Review and initial records of sub-assemblies and finished goods to ensure accuracy against Bill of Material (BOMs) and first article inspection.
Identify and report equipment and fixture issues and concerns to the equipment technician or supervisor.
Review work cell documentation (i.e. work instructions, BOMs, Quality Alerts, etc.) for deficiencies, issues and concerns and report to the appropriate production support function (e.g. Process Improvement Coordinator, Supervisor, Quality Assurance, Production Control, etc.).
Production Assembly:
Operate equipment to the Standard Safe Operating Procedure (SSOP).
Verify parts and sub-assemblies against Bill of Material (BOMs).
Assist with line set-up under direction, as required.
Report production issues and assist in resolutions as required (e.g. PCAR System).
Participate in and attend cross functional meetings, as required.
Willing to work as part of a team to meet production expectations.
Build sub-assembles and finished goods in accordance with Caframo work instructions and Quality standards.
Meet and/or exceed production targets.
Responsible for moving empty user part bins from production line to Kanban shelving and replacing with filled back-up bins.
Participate in training events.
Swipe in and out at time clock for start and end of shift.
MES Reporting
Clock into job and indirect activities.
Log out of MES.
Clock out at the end of shift.
MES Reporting – quantities are entered accurately.
MES documentation is completed and submitted at end of task or shift daily. For example, Boomerangs and Travelers.
Welcome new team members and offer assistance within your scope of knowledge.
Tools are placed back into designated areas in production.
Work area, tables and assembly fixtures are cleaned at end of shift.
Production equipment is unplugged or turned off before leaving the work area.
The appropriate forms are completed accurately and submit for all time of requests and sick days.
Equipment Set-up and Operation:
Assist with equipment set-up, under direction
Operate equipment under direction with applicable training (e.g. laser engraver, molding machine, pad printer, laboratory stirrer calibration)
Quality Assurance:
First off article inspections are completed and information is properly documented
Products are tested using test equipment outlined in the work instructions.
Sort, segregate and document finished goods for identified non-conformance issues.
Complete re-work activities as directed by QA.
Participate in Quality Assurance programs.
Assist with RMAs and repairs.
Training & Mentoring:
Mentor new employees and assist them in acclimatizing to their new role.
Provide basic training to new employees on assigned tasks you are approved to train.
Help prepare new employees to pass training assessments on product assembly.
Participate in process improvement activities.
Process Improvement
Makes process improvement suggestions with possible solutions
Support management, process improvement technicians and supervisors in implementing process improvements and activities.
Anticipates issues and takes pro-active steps to address
Other:
Shares and/or backs-up 1-2 equipment operator roles (Pad Printer, Molding Machine, laser Engraver, Forklift Operator, etc.).
Looks for additional opportunities to contribute to overall production objectives.
Other duties as requested by the supervisor and or manager.
What we require:
Minimum of 1 year production or general manufacturing experience.
Familiarity with the use of tools/fixtures for production aids.
Manual Dexterity – This job requires the repeated and coordinated use of your arms, hands, wrists, and fingers to grasp small or large objects and to use small parts (e.g., bolts, screws) and handheld tools (e.g., pliers, screwdrivers) to put them together.
Physical Strength -This job may require that you are physically able to hold, push, pull, lift and carry heavy items (e.g., carry a carton of 9206 heaters to pallet) up to 40 pounds, 10 times per hour.
Experience operating production equipment
Able to read and comprehend blueprints/schematics
Thorough Comprehension of Written English (read, write and interpret)
Fully Competent in working with and solving basic mathematical problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in combination).
Computer literate: proficient in all Windows based applications and ability to learn and use new programs with training.
Experienced in opening computerized documents and making simple changes (create a word document, enter data into a spreadsheet and toggle between tabs and windows without difficulty)
Accurate in basic data entry (for ERP) with job aids and training
Versatility — Ability to train and maintain competency on multiple work cells and related
Anticipates and plans for completion of work assignments within required timelines
Works cooperatively and resolves interpersonal issues
Demonstrates problem solving and troubleshooting techniques
Problem-solving: ability to identify, define and communicate production issues and problems
Motivated … Innovative … Self-starter.
Capable of assessing priorities and adapting to change
Demonstrates Healthy and Safe behaviours. May have specific safety training.
