Position: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Glasgow, Head Office
Job Type: Full time, Permanent – Monday to Friday, 39.5 hours per week, 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm on Friday
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Benefits: 28 days annual leave increasing with length of service, plus 4 public holidays, attractive pension, medical cash-back system, and as much coffee as you can drink!
Purpose of Role:
As a Maintenance Engineer at Matthew Algie Ltd, you will support site production ensuring agreed KPIs are met by carrying out effective maintenance tasks to a high standard and assist in the development of staff to maximise efficiency and quality. You will carry out site maintenance tasks when required as per the company’s computerised maintenance system.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance tasks are carried out to the agreed high standards as per the maintenance schedule which is generated automatically in the companies computerised maintenance system
Maintenance tasks are planned with production to ensure no unplanned downtime to equipment
All equipment breakdowns are identified immediately, and suitable re-active maintenance is carried out effectively in a timely manner
Participate in maintenance task reviews when required
Participate in the continuous improvement of the department’s maintenance strategy
All production equipment must be available to run when required ensuring no stoppages
All production equipment must run to the set speeds ensuring maximum efficiency
To ensure that all machinery and processes are operated in a safe manner
To report any incidences of unsafe practice to a member of the management team
Experience
To be considered for this opportunity, it is essential that you have completed a recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline, and relevant post-qualified experience. You will be a confident, experienced engineer with Electrical bias, with mechanical exposure / understanding.
Skills / Knowledge
Knowledge of safe working practices
Excellent fault finding and problem-solving skills/techniques
Clear communicator
Ability to organise and prioritise workloads
Computer literate (email, excel, word, maintenance systems)
Pro-active, self-started that will take the initiative
Can work effectively under pressure
