The Team:

The Franchise Finance group aims to support the growth of Mattel’s brand franchises on a global scale, providing comprehensive and accurate financial data and analysis in order to aid decision making and accelerate business growth.

The Opportunity:

As a Finance Analyst, you will be a member of a truly global Franchise Finance team, reporting to the UK based Finance Manager. You will be working with a wide range of global stakeholders, including local and regional Finance and Commercial teams, the Licensing Operations team, and both internal and external Audit teams, supporting and promoting such iconic brands as Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Thomas & Friends. The ideal candidate will grow into the role and drive process improvement, then look to take on further responsibilities to improve their knowledge and skillset, whilst gaining exposure to other areas within the organisation.

What Your Impact Will Be:

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accurate and timely booking of revenue and other P&L items for specific territories
• Reconcile revenue interfaced from RightsLogic, our Rights Management system, and determine if any additional entries are required
• Manage timely release of shortfall revenue on RightsLogic
• Calculate and book journals through Oracle relating to revenue, agent commissions and bad debt provisions
• Reconcile both accrued and deferred income B/S accounts, as well as agent commission B/S accounts, and explain any variances

AD-HOC TASKS AND PROJECTS

• Resolve queries from regional Finance and Commercial teams in relation to specific contractual agreements with external licensees
• Support the integration to Oracle Cloud as part of our NextGen Finance project as required
• Take an active role in driving ongoing process improvements within Franchise Finance

What We’re Looking For:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance/Business or equivalent work-based experience
• Experience of working in an accounting or a commercial finance function
• Previous role(s) in Media/Entertainment or Licensing would be advantageous

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Strong accounting knowledge, in particular accounting for accrued and deferred revenue
• Balance Sheet account reconciliations & good understanding of P&Ls
• Advanced Microsoft Excel user, able to manipulate complex, raw data to provide analytics and insights
• Knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion Planning Tool is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided

SOFT SKILLS

• Ability to learn quickly and work independently, planning timelines to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across functions
• Willingness to take responsibility and drive process improvements
• Ability to communicate at all levels, to finance and non-finance personnel and across different working cultures
