Due to their continued success in both the private and public sector they are seeking a capable Civils / Traffic Engineer tojoin them working in the Birmingham office.

Job Description

As part of the traffic engineering / active travel team, working as part of the bigger Transport Planning business you will joining one of the most successful trams operating in the UK & Ireland. They have a varied client base and strong pipeline of work here in the UK, with the opportunity to support further project teams across the globe.

You will be involved in delivering a wide range of planning and design projects for their clients across the UK, delivering projects with a true focus on sustainability. The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced Traffic Engineer/Active Travel specialist with proven record in working on civil engineering projects here in the UK. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate previous work experience in developing policy, providing strategy advice, design and/or delivery of sustainable travel solutions.

You will have the support of a line manager and our experts to guide your progress and will have on opportunity to share your skills and knowledge by training and supporting others in the team. You will also be given the ability to pursue relevant business and technical training to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to chase new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Working as part of the bigger Transport Planning team you will demonstrate experience in designing Healthy Streets, traffic engineering schemes, active travel, public transport, junction improvement or place-making schemes.
• Able to demonstrate a strong technical knowledge with experience in applying a variety of industry and local standards (DMRB, MfS, SPDs) to a transport network
• Proficient user of AutoCAD and AutoTRACK and Traffic Signing/road marking software
• Experience of successfully managing packages of work and supporting client-facing activities
• Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
• Flexibility to manage diverse workload, assist with new business opportunities and embrace emerging technologies, product solutions and the future evolution of the industry
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Traffic Signs and General Directions (TSRGD) and accompanying Traffic Signs Manuals.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO’s)

Qualifications / Experience

• HNC, HND, bachelor or higher qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
• Working towards Chartered status with membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Significant design experience for both a roads and drainage perspective.

• Based in Central Birmingham are looking at offering hybrid working, with potentially three days based in the office
