Matchtech Looking for Health & Safety / CDM Manager at South East Full Time

About the role

• To manage the Health & Safety and CDM requirements across multi-disciplinary teams and offices. Works will predominantly be in the delivery of professional services in the civil engineering industry and will cover both design and implementation works and will support multiple teams and clients.
• As part of the CDM management role undertake the role of Principal Designer / Principal Designer support on key projects and support the growing number of developing Principal Designers within the team. Support Senior Leadership Team to ensure compliance of CDM Regulations and across the company.
• Responsible for building and maintaining excellence in Health and Safety practice across the company, establishing relationships, developing staff resources and providing training to maintain a compliant and quality service delivery with health and safety at the forefront.
• Work with the Clients/Project teams to determine practical and deliverable measures to improve performance in all aspects of Health, Safety & Wellbeing.

The position itself will include, but not be limited to:

• Contribute towards and support Group in the creation of robust management systems to comply with legislation.
• Translate management system into actions required across the company.
• Ensure all employees receive suitable project health & safety training, maintain, and develop all safe systems of work and create and update annual training plan.
• Assist with combined ISO9001, 45001 & 14001 audits, being part of the team achieving these standards for the company.
• Assist with ensuring all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
• Contribute towards and support Group in the preparation and implementation of health and safety strategies and internal policy development.
• Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all project related HSE legislation and any developments that affect the company
• Assist with ensuring the implications of changes in legislation and safety management techniques are communicated and implemented throughout the Company and Supply Chain.
• Participate in weekly/monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
• Monitor Sentinel Sponsorship Scheme and work with Structures Team to ensure compliance in all areas and any lessons are learned.
• Contribute towards and participate in Group Health and Safety & Environment Committees.
• Maintain and implement relevant quality control procedures.
• Continually develop knowledge of health and safety to enhance the business fulfil company requirement.
• Sharing H&S information and facilitating lessons learned.

This role will require to manage and undertake the following activities in relation to CDM Regulations, including:

• Process development and mapping to integrate CDM across the business
• CDM Training (inhouse and external clients).
• Keeping up to date with legislation and ensuring that any changes are implemented and effectively communicated within the business.
• Principal Designer (PD) mentoring, training and developing PD resource
• Undertaking PD role on key projects and setting exemplar standard and have responsible for financial performance of assigned works and projects and all direct reports.
• Auditing and compliance of projects in CDM practice.
• Auditing and compliance of company in CDM practice.
• Assisting/reviewing Bid proposals (Health & safety and CDM).
• Promoting CDM culture across the business and supporting inhouse marketing team.

Our ideal candidate will have but not limited to:

• Degree or equivalent in related subject.
• Substantial experience in health, safety and CDM implementation
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
• CDM and construction regulation experience
• CSCS Site Card
• Graduate IOSH Status or CMIOSH status
• CMaPS preferred, IMaPS considered.
• Professional engineering status ICE or CIHT
• Detailed technical knowledge of highways and infrastructure engineering design and construction
• Programme / Contracts experience / Project Management.
