Here at Royal Canin we have a strategic opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join the Royal Canin Finance team, reporting to the Financial Operations Manager (FOM).

In this role you’ll be a key influencer across the business and will be expected to provide guidance and development to other more junior members of the finance team, particularly the General Accountant, and Accounts Payable and Receivable Officers.

Your area of responsibility runs across both the Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) businesses and includes ensuring clean and accurate periodic reporting; reconciling general ledger accounts (balance sheet); internal controls and governance; working with the Mars tax team to ensure compliance; supporting accounting process improvements; and performing other related general accounting functions as and when required.

This opportunity is full time (12 Month contract) and located from our Melbourne Head office (hybrid working options).

What are we looking for?

• 5-8 years accounting experience would be preferred.
• Finance tertiary qualification (B Com and preferably CPA/CA).

• Knowledge of accounting and reporting ERP systems (e.g. MS Dynamics 1Nav and Hyperion).
• Knowledge of general accounting procedures.
• Experience with delivering accurate and timely periodic reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a proactive attitude.
• Effective, confident communication skills and leadership skills.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
• Confident self starter with the ability to hit the ground running.

What would be your key responsibilities?

• Responsible for running the periodic reporting process, including submission of financial results to the parent entity.
• Responsible for the preparation of recurring financial management reports.
• Assist the FOM to manage the Financial Operations of the business, ensuring accurate data recording, complete and accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations with regular follow up.
• Support the Mars Tax team with the preparation and submission of all relevant taxes, including relevant education of associates and control of our taxation costs.
• Responsible for tax compliance and any investigations or audits required.
• Keeping abreast of changing tax laws, tax rates and accounting rules.
• Work with the FOM to support the achievement of departmental objectives and goals.
• Draft internal control policies as and when required for approval by the CFO.
• Assist in the internal control implementation & regular review and improvement of existing controls.
