Presenting 152 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites with carefully restored features and adorned with exclusive art pieces from local artists, The Tasman reflects the true spirit of the destination.

The hotel is due to open in Q4 2021.

The Opportunity

The Hotel Accountant role at The Tasman, Hobart offers a rare opportunity for a passionate, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, self-driven accountant to be part of a very special opening team, supporting all aspects of the hotel Finance function.

The ideal candidate is highly driven and an extremely organised with a high ethical standard. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the overall management of the Hotels finance function including but not limited to: accounts payable and receivable, BAS preparation, PAYG, bank reconciliation, profit and loss and end of month reporting / general ledger reconciliations. In addition, you will possess exceptional analytical skills, coupled with technical competencies with a genuine passion to deliver results.

Key Accountabilities

• You will be supporting the day-to-day operations of the Finance team in conjunction with the Director of Finance. Providing high level financial support and ensuring compliance with all finance related procedures
• Develop and execute strategies to attain financial goals for the hotel and department
• Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, reconciliations, cash flow analysis
• Support the budget and forecast process
• Preparing and undertaking audits and financial investigations as applicable
• Establish and maintain positive customer and business relationships
• Coach and mentor your team members to help them achieve individual and team objectives
• Work collaboratively with internal departments
• Be a brand ambassador and reflect our core values
• Other duties as required

Profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting (desirable)
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Passion and drive
• Master in time management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication ability
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and working knowledge of OPERA (desirable)
• CA/CPA qualification and membership (desirable)
• Full working rights in Australia
