About the Role:

As the Complex Director of Finance, you are accountable for the entire spectrum of Finance activities, including overseeing and maintaining accounting and financial requirements for the Westin Perth and Aloft Perth hotels. You will be a team player and demonstrate hospitality through offering financial support, advice and expertise to the hotel team whilst optimising the hotel’s profitability.

This role reports directly to the General Managers at both properties and works closely with the senior management team, as well as the Area Director of Finance – Australia, New Zealand & Pacific

Responsibilities:

• Overall management of the accounting records and financial reports of the hotels ensuring compliance with company, owner’s management agreement, statutory and fiscal requirements
• Engage in Strategic Planning and Decision Making across the two properties
• Lead the complex finance, accounting and purchasing teams
• Ensure that the balance sheets are a fair reflection of the assets and liabilities of each hotel. The balance sheets must be regularly reviewed, and reconciliation’s performed of all accounts.
• Ensure compliance with the management agreements with Marriott and any Owner / Lease agreement.
• Maintain a focused system of internal controls, which will provide effective and efficient control over each hotel’s assets, liabilities, revenue and costs. Ensure compliance with company policy.
• Ensure legal and tax compliance and that adequate insurance cover is maintained.
• Develop best practice financial accounting and control procedures. Financial reporting and control to be an area of continuous review and development to maximise both impact and efficiency.
• Manage the formulation, review and approval process for budgeting within the hotels.
• Ensure a regular cycle of forecasting takes place within the hotels with content and detail appropriate to the operation’s needs.

What are we looking for?

To successfully fill this role, you should have a passion for numbers and have the ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders within the business. In addition to this, as the Complex Director of Finance, you will demonstrate the following capabilities;

• Relevant degree in Finance or related business discipline from an academic institution
• Minimum five years’ experience in Finance management
• Organisational, planning skills and the ability to prioritise
• Rigorous commitment to accuracy and detail
• Negotiation and influencing skills
• Effective management skills and the willingness to coach and train others
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

• Knowledge of commercial business, especially as it relates to hotel management
• Previous experience in the hospitality industry
• Experience with the hotel systems
