Marrick Priory is an outdoor education and residential centre in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the River Swale on the doorstep making it ideally situated to make the most of the great outdoors.

The centre runs a varied programme involving: Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Caving, Hill Walking, High and Low Ropes challenges, Beck and Gorge Scrambling, Archery and Orienteering.

Marrick Priory are looking to recruit two Outdoor Activity Apprentice Instructors for an initial 13 months contract, starting in December 2021 or January 2022. The Apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity to join an established team running residential and day courses throughout the year.

Apprentices will have the opportunity to work towards the Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship and will be supported by Marrick Priory’s experienced staff and by Channel Training – a specialist training provider. You will be able to develop your skills and experience through a variety of external training courses and on the job training to help you build your career and National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications.

While working at Marrick Priory you will have to opportunity to obtain the following qualifications:

• 2 Day ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (16 hours)

• Safeguarding training and certificate

• Manual Handling (ITC Level 2 Award in safe moving and handling)

• ITC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the workplace

• COSHH Training

• Customer Care Training

• Prevent Training

• British Canoeing 2* / Discover / Explore

• British Canoeing Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT)

• British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor Course

• Climbing Wall Instructor Award Training

• A range of NGB awards dependent upon individual and employer aspirations

Skills and qualifications:

• Motivated to work in the Outdoors
• Good customer care skills
• 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English grade 4/C or above (or be willing to work towards a Level 2 functional skills if you previously achieved a grade 3/D at GCSE or have passed Level 1 Functional skills)

Additional Information:

Accommodation is available at the centre.

Candidates need to be 18 years or older and hold a minimum of Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (GCSE grade C/4) by the time they complete their Apprenticeship.
Essential Details:
Salary: £9,360 per year- £12,480 per year + accommodation.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week
