JOB SUMMARY:

The 6-12 Mathematics Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Executive Director of Academic Achievement in the development and implementation of effective standards-based Mathematics instruction in all schools, appropriate and balanced assessment, technology integration, and standards-based grading and reporting.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for developing, planning, managing, supporting, organizing, and implementing 6-12 Mathematics programming throughout the district.
• Provides leadership for District-wide initiatives for Mathematics programs.
• Provides direction and leadership for the overall administration and coordination of 6-12 Mathematics programs in support of effective instructional practices, communication and operational efficiency.
• Oversees the development and enhancement of 6-12 Mathematics curriculum for instructional programs and collaborates with teachers and administration in the development and maintenance of the curriculum.
• Promotes effective instructional practices and communication that support high levels of instruction through the use of research-based data driven best practices, effective classroom consultation, and program evaluation.
• Assists administrators and instructional coaches in developing training and resources in improving instructional delivery in Mathematics.
• Assists with the procurement of appropriate instructional resources using district-approved processes and accounts for expenditures.
• Generates resources and tools to support teachers with differentiation strategies to meet all students’ needs in Mathematics.
• Works in collaboration with other departments and Instructional Coaches to maximize teacher effectiveness as it relates to 6-12 Mathematics instruction.
• Assists schools in determining the level of implementation of standards-based instructional best practices and standards-based assessment and grading.
• Coordinates the development of prioritized standards and proficiency scales and the alignment of assessment and instructional resources for 6-12 Mathematics.
• Works in collaboration with other departments and areas to maximize teacher effectiveness as it relates to the curriculum, instruction, assessment, and use of instructional technology.
• Collaborates with leadership in Academic Achievement in development and integration of and revisions to new curriculum.

NON-PROGRAM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director of Academic Achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Mathematics, or related area required; Master’s Degree and Leadership Certification preferred. Must hold or be eligible for Georgia certification.

Experience:

Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience required in Mathematics; supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with standards-based instruction, teaching of Mathematics, and professional staff development required.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

• Ability to produce and lead work with a high degree of efficiency
• Detailed knowledge and experience with standards-based instruction, instructional technology, and assessment best practices.
• Experience with curriculum development.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple levels.
• Demonstrated knowledge in differentiation and meeting the needs of varied learners.
• Ability to plan and implement short and long-range goals and objectives.
• Ability to work with collaborative teams.
• Excellent interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with administrators, staff, and community members.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment; Will require travel between schools.

Physical Demands: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Pay: $54,158.00 – $97,997.00 per year
