The Opportunity
The QA Specialist, Co-manufacturers (Co-man) is a 13-month contract position that is primarily responsible for the execution of the Engineering Change Record (ECR) process related to our Co-manufacturers. Activities include specifications, hold and release, complaints management, and quality investigations. The role reports directly to the Manager, QA – Suppliers, and will be located at our Corporate offices in Mississauga, Ontario.
A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
Manage all co-man Hold and release of products where food safety and quality may be compromised. Apply SAP hold and release to impacted batches for products that are at any or all MLF Distribution Centers.
Primary Co-man ECR FSQA approver- collect information for regulatory affairs, review and edit as needed co-man specifications for accuracy and completeness, Issue co-man specifications as per ECR process. ECR Route for in-house Carlisle shipper labels.
Complaints management- assist with Customer and Consumer Complaints- holding co-man’s accountable to ensure responses are timely, effective to address corrective actions. Approving and closing notifications in SAP.
Timely communication with Co-manufacturers on FSQA related issues, Quality investigations and follow ups.
Provide a food safety perspective recommendation for product dispositions when specifications are not met.
Assist as a backup for the Customer Specification team

What you will bring:
Post-secondary Diploma or Degree required in food science, food processing, or related subject.
3+ years of food safety and/or food quality assurance experience
GFSI (BRC, SQF, FSSC etc) working knowledge
CFIA, USDA, FDA Regulatory knowledge is an asset
Strong computer software skills in Word and Excel.
Proficiency in SAP and SAP RD programs is an asset.
Demonstrated initiative and continuous process improvement
Demonstrated fact-based decision making.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, including other cross functional teams.
Detail oriented, highly organized, and skilled at managing multiple deadlines
Ability to prepare and deliver technical information in a report format
Confidence to present technical information to a larger audience.
Infectious positivity
A valid driver’s license
French language is an asset
