Supply Chain Logistics is the team responsible for transportation and distribution for the global outsourced supply chain in support of Manufacturing and Quality Control for bluebird bio’s cutting edge cell and gene therapy programs.

About the role:

• Manage, coordinate, schedule in/outgoing shipments per request from bluebird bio directly and/or by their partners.
• Responsible for monitoring and for communicating shipping status and order related information to related internal/external stakeholders including conducting “swivel chair” activities to document paper-based logistics data into electronic systems(s)
• Responsible for resolving shipping related issues with freight forwarders and customs brokers
• Provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated
• Prepare accurate shipping documentation e.g. bill of lading and packing slip working (as needed) with internal Trade Compliance function and customs officials to ensure timely/effective release of shipments.
• Coordination and management of 3rd party storage and distribution partner ensuring right first time and that distribution transactions are aligned with the supply plans
• Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity tariff and customs regulations and report challenges
• Prepare ship schedule report daily
• Provide support for shipping activities for the Laboratory and Facilities teams as necessary
• Work with Department to resolve any logistics issues.
• Manage and support investigations for shipping quality incidents as needed (i.e. Deviation, CAPA)
• Develop, document, implement, manage and improve SOPs, Forms and Work Instructions. Ensure all compliance standard and operating procedures are adhered to during “shipping process” Provide trainings to related internal and external business partners to ensure increased awareness and compliance
• Identify opportunities and support creation of new business processes for improvements

About you:

• BA / BS Degree with 3+ years of relevant logistics, planning, or supply chain experience, in a pharmaceutical or biotech company
• Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Possess excellent attention to detail, project and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with aggressive timelines
• Strong working experience with Oracle SRM, SharePoint, electronic Quality Management Systems, Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work both independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment where results are achieved through influence and incorporating multiple points of view
• Self-motivated and willing to accept responsibilities outside of initial job description
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
• Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within established timelines
• Prior experience working in ERP systems, supporting a global supply chain for both internal and external manufacturing preferred
• Ability to learn GxP regulations, quality systems, and guidance documents with particular focus on labeling, packaging and distribution practices
• Ability to solve problems by applying a combination of best practices and creative solutions while proactively spotting areas for improvement contributing to a plan for resolution
