Primary Purpose
Develop and implement the Foundation’s Hawaiian culture-based context training programs focused on math, science, and English language arts concepts and benchmark mastery pertinent to the mission of the Foundation and all programs, including staff and teacher training, and student instructional units.
Essential Duties
· Work closely with senior Hawaiian Cultural Specialist, Hawaiʻi Island Education Coordinator, and Project Manager to develop project and Hawaiian culture-based learning curriculum for grades 6-8 that fosters knowledge growth for program participants, employees, and partner agencies;
· Work closely with teachers, students, and program staff to teach curriculum in classrooms, field experiences, and other program sites;
· Mentor students during and after school hours;
· Provide logistical support for delivery sites;
· Serve as record keepers, e.g., attendance and logs;
· Provide feedback and communication to teachers, staff, and parents that will include but not be limited to student progress tracking and goal setting;
· Assist and collaborate with senior Hawaiian Cultural Specialists with community projects, staff development, and implementation of conflict resolution.
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned including, but not limited to:
· Produce web posts about the program;
· Maintain site and equipment and;
· Assist with program reporting.
Work Hours
· Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;
· Position requires regular and predictable attendance;
· Occasional attendance required at some events in evening or on weekends.
Working Conditions
· Work at project office, schools where the project is scheduled, and in community and outdoor project field locations;
· Travel in personal vehicle to and from program, meeting, and training sites;
· Travel to the neighbor islands for extended stays as needed.
Equipment Use
Personal Vehicle, computer and or lap top, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, office and or work cell phone/Bluetooth, camera, scientific equipment.

· Must be able to cope with stress that may be induced by the situations of our program partners, participants, staff and administration.
Physical:
· Must be physically fit and able to keep up with the students and teachers in sailing, gardening, hiking and swimming;
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis;
· Must be able to sit and work at desk for extended period of time.
Communication:
· Must exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program partners, participants, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;
· Requires good oral and written communication skills in English and Hawaiian;
· Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Required:
· Bachelor’s Degree required in Math, Science, English Language Arts, Education, Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian Language or equivalent;
· At least one (1) year of experience in formal or informal instruction involving Hawaiian learner and Hawaiian community;
· Basic academic knowledge and research experience in Hawaiian culture, history and issues;
· At least one (1) year of professional teaching experience in at least two (2) of the following: Mathematics, Science, English Language Arts, Hawaiian Studies and/or Hawaiian Language;
· Must be able to deliver creative and engaging projects that integrate the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards;
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Windows and Apple operating systems and iOS;
· Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver’s license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily collision per person and $25K in property damage liability.
Preferred:
· Familiarity with applied mathematics instruction to the algebra level;
· Experience in laboratory or field research;
· Understanding of Trauma Informed Care skills and strategies.
