Magna International Inc Hiring for Principal Electrical Engineer Full Time

Role Summary

Magna is seeking a highly motivated Principal Electrical Engineer to join the New Mobility group in Boston, Massachusetts. The Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible to define the Electrical/Electronic Architecture of an overall robot or vehicle. They will flow down all electrical requirements from the overall system in addition to designing and integrating components and modules.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with minimal supervision to meet defined program objectives and milestones in an environment where they will be given the freedom to innovate, explore new methods and solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Define/design overall EE architectural strategy on vehicle level.
• Ensure architecture meets reliability and safety goals.
• Support selection of individual components and their integration into overall EE architecture.
• Ensure appropriate connectivity between components (communication bus, power, etc.).
• Align EE Architecture with needs from other major domains (Software, Mechanical, etc).
• Optimize cost, weight, modularity, and scalability.
• Ensure energy efficient design of the EE Architecture.
• Manage communication and alignment with all affected stakeholders.
• Perform other duties, support special projects and tasks as assigned.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years’ relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of circuit design (both digital and analog) and embedded circuits (SoCs, etc).
• Strong understanding of power electronics.
• Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols and interprocessor communications (CAN, Automotive Ethernet, SPI, I2C, etc).
• Experience in vehicle wiring and harnessing.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects; requires good time management and organizational skills to meet stringent deadlines.
• Understanding of Functional Safety & Cybersecurity and their impacts on electrical design & architecture.
• Understanding of automotive industry standards.
• Experience of vehicle network simulation and analysis.
• Knowledge of ADAS/AD features, including sensors (cameras, LIDAR, RADAR), sensor fusion, path planning.
• Knowledge of vehicle connectivity/telematics including communication protocols.
• Knowledge of vehicle high voltage (HV) systems including safety and awareness.
• Analytical and flexible approaches in projects.
• Excellent creativity, initiative, diligence, and accuracy.
• High attention to detail.
• Hands-on attitude.

Additional Information

• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
• Hybrid in-office policy: 3 days in office per week.
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis.
