PROFILE:
Plan, analyze, implement and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities to existing equipment/processes to support Manufacturing Engineering. Develop processes for new business and products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop processes for new business and products.
Quote new business opportunities when required.
Investigate equipment for new business and continuous improvement opportunities
Utilize root cause problem solving methods to analyze issues affecting internal quality (ppm) and productivity issues (OEE – overall equipment efficiency)
Identify quality improvements and defect prevention by developing and implementing mistake/error proofing fixtures and devices
Prepare capital projects and acquire quotes to justify new equipment acquisitions for continuous improvement opportunities
Conduct Engineering Feasibility Studies (EFSs) to determine feasibility of implementing labour and material cost savings opportunities
Initiate Process Change Notifications (PCNs) to initiate changes or alterations to the current manufacturing process
Keep all necessary product information (FMEA, process flow charts, instruction sheets, etc.) up-to-date and readily available
Facilitate quality and productivity related meetings for assigned products and keep up-to-date meeting minutes
Update measurables, presentation material and other tracking documents for monthly Quality Operating System (QOS) reviews
Identify and implement labour savings opportunities (direct and indirect) wherever feasible
Maintain plant layout with up-to-date product line layouts
Coordinating the implementation of new production equipment and operator training to meet standards and final sign-off requirements
Involved in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, equipment selection and negotiations with vendors.
Involved as Advanced Manufacturing Engineer with coordinating the implementation of new production equipment and operator training to meet standards and final sign off requirements for the ECU Business unit.
Acts as technical contact between management and vendors
Update and obtain customer approval on packaging forms (F150) for carryover programs as a result of engineering changes or customer issues. (Applies to A & B-level)
Must be aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how it effects quality and the environment for our customers
Perform other duties as required
HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adhere to Magna Closures and Dortec health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, policies and procedures
Follow compliance obligations
Report any known near miss, environmental impact, hazard, defect, incident or compliance issue to the employer or supervisor
Assist in near miss, hazard and incident investigations and provide input on corrective actions
Understand BILL 168 and uphold the policies that prohibit domestic violence, workplace violence and harassment in the Workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Completion of community college diploma/certificate.
3 to less than 5 years of work related experience.
Minimum completion of a 3 year post-secondary education program in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
