THE ROLE

As a member of the Group Finance leadership team, the Director, MQ Health Finance is accountable to the CEO of MQ Health and the Deputy Group CFO for the end-to-end financial management and performance of MQ Health.

About You

As a partner to the MQ Health leadership team, you will be participating in the development of strategy and providing advice to the MQ Health CEO on the financial consequences of strategic alternatives. You will identify emerging trends withing Macquarie University Hospital and its clinics and develop appropriate policies, processes, strategies and/or programs to ensure profitability is maintained.

Key Accountabilities:

• Partner with the MQ Health CEO and other key stakeholders to ensure the end-to-end financial management and performance of MQ Health.
• Provide advice on the development of business strategy through a deep commercial acumen and understanding of the profitability drivers of MQ Health
• Partner with CEO MQ Health and their team to develop and critically evaluate long term financial budgets and forecasts
• Lead the financial planning process for MQ Health, including development of the budget and the 5-year plan.
• Provide advice on performance improvement initiatives that drive improved profitability through revenue optimisation and cost minimisation.
• Oversee MQ Health’s Finance Systems, with a focus on ensuring that organisational needs are met within the broader University Group IT Framework, driving process improvement and automation, in collaboration with Group IT and Group Finance.
• Establish, measure and monitor key financial and non-financial performance metrics driving the productivity and profitability of MQ Health and its business units
• Efficiently manage and monitor capital expenditures in collaboration with the University Property and Information Technology teams
• Monitor and manage MQ Health cashflows to deliver a sustainable surplus position for MQ Health

• Degree in accounting, finance
• CA, CPA or equivalent qualification
• Significant relevant experience (typically 8+ years) in a similar role within a large, complex organisation with complex accounting and reporting requirements.Experience in a Private Hospital / Healthcare context.
• Significant business partnering experience including the ability to build rapport and influence senior stakeholders including “C-suite”.
• Demonstrated high level of commercial acumen including development of strategy and articulating the financial consequences of strategic options.
• Significant experience in preparing management information for senior leaders.Experience drafting board papers.
• Demonstrated experience in applying problem solving methodologies
• Advanced understanding of financial modelling and scenario analyses
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
• Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures
