What is Seasons for Growth at MacKillop?

Seasons for Growth is an evidence-based loss and grief education program that has supported over 350,000 children and young people for over 25 years in schools in Australia and overseas. The programs have been adapted to provide additional support to young people following suicide events, forced migration, out-of-home-care, natural disasters and the pandemic.

Position Purpose:

The VIC/SA/TAS Seasons for Life Coordinator will work under the leadership of the National Lead – Seasons for Life as an integral member of the team that will launch and embed the 3-year Department of Health funded project to support school communities impacted by suicide loss and other losses. The team is situated in the Good Grief team in the MacKillop Clinical Services Division.

The VIC/SA/TAS Seasons for Life Coordinator will lead and coordinate the state-wide implementation of the project. Collaborating with national education providers and headspace Schools and Communities, this project will support young people at risk of suicide by building the knowledge and capacity of young people, parents/carers and school staff in Australian schools and communities with our Seasons for Growth evidence-based change, loss and grief resources.

Primary Objectives:

The VIC/SA/TAS Seasons for Life Coordinator will lead and coordinate the project to build the capacity of schools in the national project to support schools at risk of suicide by:

• Lead and coordinate the state-wide response for the region
• Create and grow relationships with key stakeholders in education, headspace Schools and Communities and organisations
• Develop and implement individual plans to support school communities with the Seasons for Growth suite of loss and grief programs and resources
• Support, consult and share evidence-based information, sessions and resources with school communities with the goal of building local capacity to improve outcomes for young people and their families
• Develop and grow a Community of Practice for professionals to share, learn and support
• Contribute to the project evaluation and project ing

This is a Part-time Fixed (30.4 hours per week – 0.8 EFT until 30/6/25) opportunity based in Melbourne, VIC and Adelaide within our Good Grief, Clinical Services Division Program. The position s to the Seasons for Life National Lead.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant qualification in education, health or relevant discipline
• Specialist knowledge and experience in suicide prevention/ postvention loss and grief
• Knowledge of Seasons for Growth programs highly desirable
• Experience in delivering services to support young people through health and/or education; demonstrating achievement of key performance indicators against a project plan;
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to operate effectively at a state/territory level and build relationships and partnerships with stakeholders including key government, non-government and community partners.
