Are you a qualified teacher? Have you worked with young people who have complex needs? Are you looking for an alternative to a classroom-based environment?
A unique opportunity has arisen to join us as Programme Manager at our new provision in Bedfordshire. Working closely with Bedford Borough Council, we will be re-purposing a former education site in Cotton End to meet the specific needs of an identified cohort of young people.
You’ll lead and manage all aspects of your site, developing and building effective working relationships with partner Schools, Colleges and Local Authorities. Establishing and maintaining a rapport with stakeholders whilst epitomizing MacIntyre’s Values will be crucial, to ensure the success of this new provision.
You will lead a team of teachers and teaching assistants who deliver bespoke curricula to young people with special educational needs; as they transition to further education with MacIntyre.
Most of the young people we teach are on the autistic spectrum and/or have a learning disability. Some have an additional physical disability or mental health issues. We have a brilliant track record giving young people the tools they need to transform their lives, with educational programmes designed specifically for each learner as they prepare for adult life.
You’ll make sure that the quality of teaching is excellent, meeting the needs of learners in a way that is engaging, imaginative and effective. You’ll lead, motivate and develop the educational team, taking responsibility for mentoring, performance development and management.
Learning takes place both at our centres and out in the community with a flexible and bespoke curriculum. Although you will be based at our site in Bedford, you will travel around the Bedfordshire area and to other MacIntyre locations. You will also be part of our on-call rota and will be designated safeguarding lead for the provision.
Please be aware: although we deliver learning on a term-time basis, the role of Programme manager is 52 weeks a year
About you
You must have a teaching qualification or Diploma in Education Level 5.
You’ll need extensive experience working with children or young people who have learning difficulties, Autism and complex needs, and an excellent understanding of the issues they face.
You’ll be an inspirational leader with extensive educational management experience, effective at building relationships with staff, learners and their families and external stakeholders.
And of course you’ll be skilled in financial and budget management.
You must be a driver with your own transport.
