Macalester College Hiring for Part-Time Remote Admissions Application Reader & Interviewer at Saint Paul, MN Full Time

Overview: The Macalester College Admissions Office seeks multiple Part-Time Remote Application Readers/Admissions Interviewers to support our full-time staff in the application review process for our upcoming application rounds. This position supports full-time staff in reviewing and evaluating domestic admissions applications by assessing candidate materials while synthesizing and writing succinct and informative comments to be shared with the Admissions Committee.

This position is a combined position with a variety of scheduling options and potential job responsibilities. Candidates are eligible to be considered as application readers, admissions interviewers or both. Candidates are encouraged to carefully review the description below and include a preference of schedule and responsibilities clearly in their application materials.

Scheduling: *

Candidates are expected to work at least 10 hours per week from mid-October until February 1st. Application readers work full-day shifts between 9:00am CST – 5:00pm CST up to four days per week. Interviewers largely coordinate their schedule directly with their supervisor and are expected to offer ~10 hour-long interview appointments weekly. These appointments most often occur on nights and weekends. All candidates hired for this position are guaranteed six weeks of work in 2022 and five weeks of work in 2023.

Application volume and demand for admissions interviews are subject to change and influence available hours beyond the above guarantee. Preference will be given to candidates with flexible work availability between the hours of 9:00-5:00 on weekdays.

This position is entirely remote. There are no in-person working hours or assignments. Candidates are expected to work from within the United States and be able to provide their own computer with reliable internet access and audio/video capabilities._*
Responsibilities:

• Reviews, evaluates and documents the content and quality of domestic admissions applications to Macalester College.
• Works collaboratively with full-time staff members to make informed assessments of academic qualifications and potential community contributions of prospective students.
• Conducts online interviews with prospective Macalester applicants and summarizes the conversations in writing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Direct experience as a student or staff member at a highly selective liberal arts college preferred.
• It is expected that an employee in this role:

Physical Requirements:

This position requires close range vision (less than 20 inches).

Compensation & Benefits:
The hourly rate for this position is $20/hr. As a part-time, temporary employee, staff members in this position are not eligible for employee benefits from Macalester.
