About the Role
The Finance Manager will assist the Finance Business Partner in providing key financial and commercial support to the Construction Materials Segment. This role will include month end accounting responsibilities, budgets and forecasts, financial performance analysis and the development of dashboards and KPI reporting tools. This role will also play a key part in the review and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
The Finance Manager position is a fulltime permanent role based in Lidcombe, with routine travel required to Bathurst initially to support the Macquarie Geotechnical business and occasional travel to Dubbo and Central QLD to support the Regional business.
Responsibilities:
Month End:
- Manage end-to-end month end processes
- Review and process of month end journals
- Completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide analysis and commentary on key performance drivers, and variances to budgets and forecasts
Reporting:
- Preparation of monthly cost and performance reports, including P&L and Working
Capital reports
- Support the development of dashboards and KPI reporting
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Support the overall forecasting and budgeting process
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts for assigned business segments, including
Macquarie Geotech
- Support operational teams in understanding and delivery of financial targets
- Support in the preparation of mid-month flash reporting
- Preparation of weekly cashflow forecasts
Process Improvement:
- Support continuous review and improvement of month end processes to streamline
month end reporting timelines
- Review and documentation of month end processes to ensure timely preparation of financial reports for key stakeholders in the business
- Work closely with Shared Services team to ensure alignment and consistency with Shared Services processes
Other:
- Manage overall Construction Materials Inventory processes, including bi-annual stock
take process
- Partner with key business leaders and operational management to improve commercial
focus and to drive commercial and financial outcomes
- Mentor and support the development of staff
- Support the onboarding of new businesses and ensuring alignment with existing systems
and processes
- Engage and support ERP transition project
About you:
- University degree in Accounting or similar
- CA or CPA membership.
- Previously demonstrated experience in commerce or professional firm, construction materials industry highly regarded
- Experience with ERP systems and MS Office
- 5+ years of experience working in a similar financial role.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to think laterally.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Highly organised with an ability to prioritise and adapt to changing demands.
