1 year contract and manager is open to remote with travel required

The Solar Development Manager is responsible for the development of distributed-scale solar and storage projects (up to 20MWac) throughout the United States.

This position primarily supports greenfield development activities and has the opportunity to sit in the Indianapolis office.

Main accountabilities :

• Responsible for local, state, and federal permitting of distributed-scale solar arrays
• Oversee the preparation of proposals that are submitted to utilities
• Obtain site control to design, permit, construct, operate, and maintain solar power projects
• Identify prospective projects with suitable electric distribution grid access, and site characteristics
• Establish and manage relationships with stakeholders, including elected officials, regulators, utilities, and community leaders, to support project development
• Participate in policy outreach efforts to government officials regarding solar and storage industry issues
• Oversee the interconnection application and study process, including coordination of interconnection submittals, reviewing, interpreting and challenging study results with the aid of third parties, and managing the negotiation and execution of interconnection agreements
• Manage the environmental study and permitting process
• Support the financial analysis and modeling of the project
• Manage project level expenditures and invoice processing
• Develop project budgets
• Work with internal resources, such as the Legal, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Investment Analysis and Energy Assessment teams
• Provide s to management by producing regular and frequent pipeline updates, project status updates, and other ing documents
• Research energy market and competition on an ongoing basis
• Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional team
• Negotiate and establish local agreements that address tax abatement, Road Use and Decommissioning
• Manage the work of third-party consultants
• Additional duties as required

Minimum qualifications :

• 5+ years managing the development of multiple solar energy projects simultaneously
• Bachelors degree in business, economics, engineering, environmental science or related field; advanced degree a plus
• Strong leadership traits; experience managing others a plus
• Exceptional problem solver and communicator
• Deep knowledge of navigating site development activities including, but not limit to, utility interconnection, permitting, land easements, and environmental studies
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and tight timelines without prompt
• Familiarity with pv system design process and critical components
• Financial planning, budgeting, organizational and resource management abilities
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software; knowledge of other software products / platforms (GIS, Anderson Optimization, Quickbase, etc.) a plus
