The Role
With strong analytical skills, and the ability to prioritize the workload, the Operations Technician I must interact successfully with internal departments to remove roadblocks and resolve issues on the behalf of all customers and escalate appropriately. They must have strong written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, leadership, and technical peers. Must be able to develop strong relationships with technical peers, and have strong interpersonal skills necessary to leave a positive impression on the customers.
This job requires candidates to work a swing/second shift from 12pm – 8pm.
The Main Responsibilities
- The Operations Technician I should have a basic understanding of Transmission DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), and TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols. With a basic understanding of telecommunications, the Operations Technician I, will be responsible for troubleshooting, managing and correcting customer service issues.
- Efficiently and accurately manages customer initiated trouble tickets to resolution.
- Provides accurate and consistent customer communication during established intervals using phone, email, and ticketing notes.
- Seek out both informal learning opportunities and formal coursework in an effort to enhance professional development.
- Troubleshoots, manages and corrects customer service issues that are in an impaired or out of service condition.
- Works with internal peer teams to assist with customer trouble resolution.
- Follow all departmental processes and procedures.
- Able to isolate 80% of customer ed trouble tickets within one hour.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- 2 years of college or technical school in electronics or telecommunications preferred
- Entry level experience and/or knowledge of at least one of the three major technical disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7) and TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols)
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize workload
- Resourceful, innovative, and creative
- Work in a face-paced and ever-changing 24×7 environment, work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work extra hours, including weekends or holidays to support the operations staff

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
