The Role

This position, under limited supervision, is responsible for domain-level architecture support, software design to meet inter and intra-domain information exchange, framework suggestion, adoption and standardization, and system tuning to meet peak performance and reliability. Leveraging investments in GE Smallworld, Comsof Fiber designer, and other standard GIS applications to create an open ecosystem is the focus of this position. Driving automation, efficiency, and data integrity to improve our stakeholder and customer experience is key to our success.


The Main Responsibilities

  • Assess domain-level processes and IT architecture to manage the ongoing development, integration, and efficiency of our Systems. Make platform-level and tool selection recommendations.
  • Support adoption and integration of planning, design, and engineering solutions into related areas of the organization benefiting stakeholders from multiple business teams
  • Responsible for coordinating the development of complex system solutions from conception to delivery to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial and corporate growth objectives.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as Planning, engineering, Network Implementation, IT, and operations to develop/implement enhancements for Comsof, Smallworld, and other GIS platforms.
  • Develop efficient and effective processes for accurate and reliable information exchange between systems and stakeholders.
  • Develop, test, demonstrate, and support system solutions – reporting, workflows, custom objects/data models, templates, user interface/wizards, and automation to support our internal business units and customers.


What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related experience
  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • 5+ years of GE Smallworld PNI development experience utilizing Magik
  • Experience Performing Data model changes, customizations, style changes
  • Success in the identification of opportunity, solution design, and successful implementation of that design
  • Experience in Performing Smallworld Upgrades and Implementation in a CI/CD DevOps environment. Experience with VMDS and ETL functions utilizing Smallworld Enterprise Gateway (SWEG) or FME
  • Experience with relational database and query to support Oracle Spatial, PostGIS
  • Experience in API development to include microservices
  • Experience working with internal business partners and outside consultants
  • Experience delivering solutions using agile methodologies and processes

Preferred:

  • Experience with the following applications: Comsof, PNI, GSS, GSA, SWEG, SPLUNK, Kafka
  • Experience with multiple development languages: Nodejs, java, javascript, C#, .Net, python
  • Experience with Databases and query languages to support: Oracle, Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, Cassandra
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure
  • Experience leading solution delivery via Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) processes
  • Experience with enterprise agile project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence
