The Role

We are seeking a dynamic Accountant with previous experience who wants to make an impact in shaping the financial function of an exciting technology start-up. With a solid framework in place, there’s still plenty of room to make your mark as the organisation scales at pace.

ing to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the financial accounts and records for the organisation. This role is based in our head office in Sydney and offers work from home flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the monthly close process, including performing balance sheet reconciliations of all entities and processing month end journal entries in line with the closing schedule.
• Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled daily, including credit card accounts, across all legal entities.
• Oversee accounts payable by ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments, currently on a weekly cadence.
• Prepare invoices for customers based on contractual arrangements, monitor, and follow up accounts receivable balances.
• Maintain and create new suppliers and vendors as required.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset register, depreciation positing, and reconciliation of assets under deployment monthly.
• Generate monthly s that enable the Financial Controller, CFO, and other senior leaders to monitor the financial health of the organisation including management accounts, margin analysis, and budget to actual to monitoring.
• Prepare statutory returns as required including BAS and IAS.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring other offshore sales and tax compliance.
• Assist in preparing the annual budget for the organisation.
• Assist in drafting the annual financial statements that are compliant with Australian Accounting Standards.
• Support the annual audit by coordinating the process and facilitating provision of the required documentation and support.

About You

• You are an Accountant with a minimum of 2-3 (or more) years’ relevant experience.
• You are tertiary and CA/CPA qualified (or working towards).
• You have previous experience and familiarity with the Australian Accounting Standards.
• You have strong attention to detail and exceptional time management and prioritisation skills.
• You are a confident and personable communicator.
• You have experience and the flexibility to work with globally dispersed teams and time zones (UK, US, Europe, India).
• You are a self-starter, possess a high degree of independent thinking and take ownership over your areas of responsibility.
• You are exceptionally organised and have a commitment to quality at the highest standards.
• You are advanced at using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
• Previous experience with Xero and Fathom is preferred, but not essential.
• Tech start-up and scale up experience is not required, but helpful to have.
