Salary from £27,416 to £30,607 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £32,768 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months for maternity cover

The British Library of Political and Economic Science was founded in 1896, a year after the London School of Economics and Political Science. The role of the Library Content and Discovery Group is to acquire and manage scholarly content, so that people can easily discover and access it in support of teaching, learning and research. Within Content and Discovery, the Acquisitions team is responsible for book acquisitions (both print and ebooks), provision of course content including scanned readings and the management of reading list data, Interlending & Document Delivery (IDD), and the ‘Get it For Me’ (GIFM) request service.

Candidates should have a good general standard of education, numerate and literate (e.g. GCSE passes in Maths and English or equivalent), and be able to communicate well with a wide range of people and to convey information clearly and appropriately. They must have the ability to demonstrate a professional approach to Library users/customers and to deliver a consistent, effective service; and self-motivation and the ability to organise their own workload. Previous experience of acquisitions work in a higher education or research library, including using Talis Aspire Reading Lists, Ex Libris Alma, the Digital Content Store, RapidILL, or similar products used for acquisitions purposes in a HE environment, would be an advantage.

This is a fixed term maternity cover vacancy, for 12 months duration.
