Overall purpose and key objectives

As a Seasonal member of the Front of House Team, you will be responsible and accountable for assisting in the running of the daily operations in our Admissions, catering and retail Spaces by providing a warm welcome to our visitors and guests. Your genuine enthusiasm for working with people will ensure our visitors enjoy an exceptional experience making Lowther Castle and Gardens a renowned visitor destination.

Main Duties

You will work as part of the Front of House team working with both contracted staff and volunteers to deliver the following:

• Welcome visitors and assist in the day to day operations of the Admissions, Catering and Retail Spaces ensuring a consistently high quality of customer service is delivered to every visitor, every day
• Unlock and secure the Exhibition space daily
• Ensure Admissions, the Exhibition space, Retail spaces and Cafe are clean and tidy at all times
• Promote and deliver a high standard of customer service and ensuring visitor expectations have been exceeded
• Promote customer loyalty and return visitors
• Assist to achieve Lowther Castle’s objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance and cleanliness through training and encouraging your colleagues at creating a positive, productive working environment.
• To actively drive retail, events and membership sales
• To operate the EPOS system. Processing all cash and credit card payments. Ensure cashing up procedures are followed correctly and accurately in-line with financial procedures
• Ensure you are fully compliant with health and safety, fire, GDPR and other relevant legislation at all times
• Promote and take steps to maintain Admissions, Exhibition, Retail Space and Café cleanliness. Ensure Health and Safety and COSHH regulations are followed at all times.
• Assist with the setting up of retail and food displays and other event spaces as and when required
• Ensure the highest possible standards of presentation by ensuring that displays, fixtures, fittings and premises are maintained in accordance with the cleaning schedule
• Contribute towards the delivery of hospitality and events around site including the set-up, service and clear down as required
• Deal with customer queries or requests in a polite and efficient manner
• Present a smart, professional appearance and good personal hygiene
• Maintain standards of safety and hygiene per legislation and other statutory requirements
• Attend meetings and training sessions as required
• Report any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss or damage and act as appropriately
• Carry out any reasonable request from any member of the Management team within the general scope and purpose of the job

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Extensive experience of working in a similar role
• Ability to deliver consistently high customer service with a desire for continuous improvement

• Previous experience of compliance with health and safety, COSHH and PPE requirements
• Demonstrates good local knowledge

QUALIFICATIONS

• GCSE (A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths, and a good general education

• NVQ in Customer Service or Tourist Board qualification
• Health and safety, risk assessment and COSHH awareness
