Job Description:
The Online Admissions Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the online Admission Officers. This position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions, Enrollment Management and works closely with recruitment team leadership, campus enrollment management team as well as other LSU departments and staff. The position must be able to establish goals, manage team metrics, SLA’s and overall performance expectations relative to the online Admissions processes. The Online Admissions Manager will also collaborate routinely with A&M Enrollment Management Leadership to ensure performance is inline with established processes and expectations. They will also be expected to proactively communicate any admissions bottlenecks or escalations that are identified in a timely manner to leadership and/or respective enrollment teams. This individual is accountable for ensuring individual and team performance is being met term over term. In addition to their management responsibilities, the manager will also assist with day to day Admission Officer responsibilities, which require a highly specialized skill set which will include knowledge of LSU’s UG Admission Policies, senior college requirements, articulation agreements and regional accreditation policies. They will play a critical role in the acceptance of students to the University.
Manage a team of Admission Officers. In coordination with the ADA and Executive Director of online recruitment and retention, will set performance goals, benchmarks, and expectations for the team that align with LSU Online’s enrollment goals for each term. Manager will ensure high team performance, provides support and resources to help meet performance requirements, and works to resolves issues or concerns that may arise within the team. Utilizes technology to track team metrics and goals to report back to the ADA and Executive Director. 30%
Conducts team meetings, identifies process bottlenecks to improve procedures and workflows, acts as a liaison between recruitment team and various areas of Online and Continuing Education. Will also collaborate closely with A&M Campus Enrollment Management Leadership to maintain appropriate procedures and to ensure the team receives up-to-date information. Responsible for providing training in processes and systems such as our CRM, SIS, and other systems used by the team. Updates and maintains training for new hires coming on board. Provides continuous coaching and professional development opportunities for the admissions team as well as participating in their own professional development growth. 25%
Evaluate/process credentials for students applying for domestic university admission for online programs; ensure requirements have been met using established admission policies and guidelines. Conduct research to ascertain institutional accreditation and transferability of courses. Evaluate applicants on ability to meet senior college requirements and communicate with other academic units, senior colleges and transfer institutions when collaboration required. This position is responsible for evaluating applications for online programs to determine admissibility for all student populations, including freshman, transfer, re-entry. Understanding of admissions policies such as 25+, academic renewal, and Board of Regents admissions guidelines are required. 25%
Research and interpret information that affects admission/enrollment on a variety of levels. Apply functional knowledge to analyze and respond to matters requiring professional judgment. Demonstrate careful and objective consideration of information to make admit decisions and/or informed recommendations for those students who do not yet meet admission requirements. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of departmental policies/procedures and state-wide articulation. Review transfer files to ensure accuracy of the student record. Update student record as new information is submitted. Must possess a critical eye, as the information conveyed by Admissions is reported to the Office of Budget & Planning, the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance, and may be referenced in a university audit. 15%
Must be knowledgeable of the entire suite of technical platforms utilized, thereby able to cross-train and provide flexibility and job rotation when necessary. Will be responsible for any other duties assigned by the Assistant Director of Admissions. 5%
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with three years of progressive experience in college admissions.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. Lead or management experience working with teams. Knowledge of best practices in student recruitment. Strong team orientation, effective interpersonal skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to holistically evaluate applications. Experience with CRM system and demonstrated ability to leverage technology. Demonstrated commitment to data-driven decision-making, including effective analytical skills and proven results in achieving objectives and goals.
Special Qualifications: As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency.
