Astrum Multi Academy Trust is a small and developing special school trust and currently consists of one large special school operating over two sites – Lower School – Gresham Drive, Upper School – Barley Lane and now a new free school – Hatchside School in Newbury Park opened in April 2021. This is an exciting time to work for Astrum Multi Academy Trust as we develop our central team and support packages and this role will be integral to this. We have committed to measured and sustainable growth, which will enable us to create outstanding provisions to improve and enhance outcomes for children with special educational needs.
The Trust is looking for a highly motivated individual who is keen to develop their finance career within the Trust and education sector. The Finance Manager role is a crucial link between the trust’s day-to-day financial management and our executive leaders and Board of Trustees and will lead, manage and maintain key financial processes including:
You will be a confident and competent self-starter, enthusiastic about developing your skills and those of others within the team and taking on new responsibilities as the Trust grows. You will be qualified or part qualified (e.g. CIPFA, AAT, ACCA, CIMA), have experience of using and developing financial software and will be comfortable with developing and managing financial control processes and undertaking reconciliation tasks and analysis.
The post holder must have an excellent understanding of accounting processes and standards as set out in the Charities SORP and be able to interpret and analyse complex data to identify trends and anticipate concerns.
The successful applicant will be an excellent verbal and written communicator and be able to problem solve and work effectively with personnel from different teams within the trust and its schools and sites. They will manage a small but growing team, and give excellent technical advice to people at all levels – with varying financial experience and be able to constructively challenge senior staff if necessary.
This role, in collaboration with the central team and schools contribute to the maintenance of a caring and stimulating environment for our children and young people.
