About The Role

Hounslow Adult and Community Education (known as Learn Hounslow) delivers the council’s Adult Education Budget allocation, which funds a range of learning opportunities to help adults develop their knowledge, skills and confidence so they can re-skill, up-skill, move into work, improve their prospects and support their families. Our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses develop our learners’ English language skills for living and working in London. We are currently seeking to appoint a full-time permanent Tutor (term-time only), with the ability to engage with adults in a positive manner to deliver, review and evaluate learning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To provide relevant high-quality learning experiences (both online and in person) through the whole learning journey – enabling learners to achieve their learning outcomes and progress to the next stage

2. To support the service with its quality assurance, tutor support and CPD activities.

3. To fully implement the principles and responsibilities of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy, in all aspects and duties of the role.

Your Skills:

1. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with a range of people, from learners to senior managers, tutors and partners

2. Knowledge of the teaching and learning of English for Speakers of Other Languages

3. Excellent knowledge of and skills with educational digital technology

4. Excellent organisational skills

Professional Qualifications:

You have a degree or equivalent and an adult teaching qualification at level 5 or above, or a commitment to gain one within an agreed timescale, depending on individual circumstances. You have English, maths and IT skills of a standard equivalent to at least level 2.
