About The Role
The Elective Home Education (EHE) Service is part of the School Effectiveness Service. It ensures all EHE families and children are supported to access appropriate education in the LA and their local community from 0-16 years.
The role of EHE Coordinator is integral to this service in supporting the needs of children who are electively home educated across Hounslow. This is an exciting opportunity to join a welcoming and busy team, using your skills to work with families within the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide a specialist service to ensure that the Local Authority meets its education and safeguarding responsibilities towards children who are EHE in Hounslow including the development of policies and practices to ensure their best outcomes.
2. Ensure databases linked to EHE are kept up to date and to provide data as required.
3. Ensure all systems and inter-agency working arrangements with health, social care and education for EHE children are effective, efficient and comprehensive.
4. Undertake home visits and all types of casework as required for EHE children and discharge safeguarding responsibilities where the home visit has flagged concerns.
5. Monitor the suitability of home education provided by parents and take action where this is unsatisfactory to ensure that the educational needs of children educated at home are met.
Your Skills
1. A thorough understanding of EHE.
2. Relevant and up to date knowledge of EHE legislation.
3. Clear communication skills – written and oral
4. The ability to communicate to a high standard with a wide cross section of people both verbally and in writing
5. Ability to work under pressure, manage own time to meet tight deadlines and respond to changing priorities
The ability to understand and assimilate relevant legislation and guidance and give advice on its content.
Professional Qualifications:
1. Teaching Qualification (QTS)
2. Recent EHE experience
3. Enhanced DBS required.
