The Compliance Learning and Communications Specialist has end-to-end ownership of all aspects of the compliance communications and training program, creating and delivering consistently branded industry-related communications and training to employees and business partners. The specialist will be hands-on with all creative elements, including writing concise and impactful custom content, developing engaging and interactive e-modules, incorporating other training formats (e.g., webinar, video, infographics, etc.), and ongoing maintenance of the training content and library consistent with legal, regulatory, client and industry developments and requirements.

This position includes researching and developing concise, high-quality learning content and comprehension testing, instructional design, occasional presentation of live training, ongoing program development, and the creation of training strategies to ensure effective training balanced with efficient and appropriate resource commitments. This position incorporates adult learning principles, training plans, and the use of training development and management technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Training Program Management:

• Review client requirements, legal, regulatory, and industry developments, and compare against the current training library to complete a needs analysis.
• Develop and implement training objectives and implementation plans.
• Develop and implement annual review, refresh, and distribution schedules.
• Develop, monitor, and report training program compliance and effectiveness, as applicable. (e.g. development cost per training, etc.)
• Actively seek and recommend improvements in process and content.
• Remain aware of developing training and content management techniques and interventions.
• Apply appropriate adult learning methods to best accommodate learner needs and engage learners in the subject matter to enhance their knowledge retention.
• Manage and maintain training library by ensuring training content is concise, relevant, accurate, and up to date. Update, replace, or retire training as appropriate.

Content Development:

• Conduct research, digest complex topics, (e.g., laws and regulations), and efficiently develop or update learning content that is accurate, complete, and engaging.
• Work with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and completeness of training content.
• Create effective and engaging training using a variety of media including primarily Adobe Captivate (including simulations), PowerPoint, infographics, manuals/processes, and recorded webinar content.
• Apply instructional design techniques and graphics to ensure the consistent branded presentation of learning materials and to enhance engagement by the learner.
• Assess and/or confirm training effectiveness (e.g., Tests, quizzes, surveys, etc.)
• Ensure training content, format, and time commitment is appropriate for the topic based on applicability, risk, and audience to ensure efficient use of resources.

Delivery of Training:

• Announce new or re-issued training module releases, as appropriate.
• Serve as a virtual classroom/webinar instructor or facilitator or presenter for selected compliance training courses.

Learning Management System:

• Manage and maintain the compliance content library within the Learning Management System to include uploading content and ensuring the library content remains organized and current.
• Work with Human Resources to identify the targeted audience and annual distribution schedule for training to ensure proper and timely training assignment via the company Learning Management System.

Document Management:

• Develop and maintain the compliance course catalog and related documentation or evidence.
• Develop, manage, and maintain the department’s internal training job aids, manuals, and content library to ensure content is centrally stored, organized, and content is accurately maintained.
• Assist with developing and maintaining departmental onboarding training documentation/materials.

Communications Management:

• Draft various client-facing notifications, distribute via email using a defined list of contacts, monitor for results, manage and maintain the distribution lists, and maintain evidence of distribution.

Customer Service:

• Respond to client user inquiries and requests timely and completely to ensure satisfactory resolution.
• Educate and advise firms on the creation, assignment, and management of training programs and training compliance.
• Provide management, auditors, and regulators with historical and present analyses, reports, and recommendations.

The Compliance Learning and Communications Specialist brings value to the team by identifying opportunities for training and seeks input from Subject Matter Experts while incorporating technology to develop and support accurate and effective compliance training content for both internal training programs and as a service for external clients. Compliance training is a core function and service within the compliance department and is at the foundation of establishing a successful compliance culture. The Compliance Training Program Manager is a trusted advisor and partner to internal units and external clients

• Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design.
• Knowledge of Mortgage Banking industry laws, regulations, and concepts is an asset.

• Organized approach to the design and implementation of all deliverables
• Clear speaking voice for the recording of audio narration is required.
• Capacity to work proactively while operating both independently and collaboratively as needed
• Project Planning skills are required.

Training and Experience:

• 3-5 years of progressive professional experience in education, content development, or training.
• Experience in mortgage banking or compliance-related field is preferred, but not necessary.
• Undergraduate degree (or demonstrated experience) in education, learning theory, instructional design, or equivalent experience is an asset.
• Experience with online authoring and graphics applications and tools including video and audio editing tools (Captivate, Flash, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
