Job Description:

The Logistics Manager understands the importance of maintaining and enhancing the Logistics department through training team members, reviewing freight data, and enhancing processes. The Logistics Manager must possess a strong knowledge of the modes of transportation and related costs; direct, manage and coordinate logistics, transportation, warehouse, and customer service activities; Lead and direct strategic planning.

Job Duties:

• Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, or equipment
• Establish or monitor specific supply-chain performance metrics
• Creates policies or processes for logistics team
• Train logistics department in specific roles
• Drive metrics, reports, process documentation, and training (SOP) documents
• Negotiate transportation rates and service levels (LTL/FTL)
• Supervise overall work of team members through metrics and personal reviews
• Recommend purchases of new or improved technology and coordinates with IT department
• Analyze financial impacts of proposed logistics changes. (routing, shipping modes, volume, carriers, etc.)
• Direct inbound/outbound logistics operations
• Ensure carrier compliance within company policies (transit times, damages, etc.)
• Resolve any problems concerning transportation, imports or exports, or customer issues
• Build and develop carrier relationships
• Ensure accurate billing and invoice issues are resolved
• Meet vendor requirements
