Logan City Council Hiring for Financial Analyst x at Australia Full Time

The Road Construction and Maintenance Branch delivers construction and maintenance services across the city’s extensive road, footpath, cyclepath, and stormwater drainage network. These services are delivered through 3 programs. Branch Management provides overall business support to the branch including customer service, administration services, financial management, procurement and contracts, and communications. The Road Construction program builds and renews existing roads, footpaths, and stormwater drainage systems. The Road Maintenance program delivers a range of maintenance services including sealed roads, gravel roads, stormwater drainage systems and footpaths, including undertaking activities such as line marking, street sweeping, and litter collection.

Waste and Resource Recovery Branch

The Waste and Resource Recovery Branch provides waste and recycling services to the city. These services are provided through 2 teams. The Waste and Recycling Business & Strategy Program delivers strategy and policy, administers waste and recycling contracts and provides business system and finance services. The Waste and Recycling Infrastructure & Operations Program operates Council’s waste and recycling facilities, including the Logan Recycling Market and Browns Plains Landfill, delivers waste infrastructure projects and provides post-closure management for former landfills.

About The Role

In these Permanent Full-Time Financial Analyst positions, you will be responsible for providing a range of activities around budget development and performance, forward forecasting, financial analysis and ing for the Road Construction and Maintenance Branch or the Waste & Resource Recovery Branch. The role also coordinates the service enhancement process for the branch and provides strategic insight into the financial feasibility of potential change, business, and service level related decisions (including being responsible for the supervision of two officers within the RCM finance team).

You will exercise leadership, guidance and mentoring to staff across the branch in relation to financial and budget matters. You will also have a strong focus on continuous improvement and developing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is important.

Elements Of The Role Include

• Coordinating the development, enhancement, effective implementation, and ing of financial budgeting processes, including preparation of the annual capital and operational budget and service enhancements
• Responsible for the provision of timely and accurate financial s and advice to the Branch Management Team and Corporate Finance on the financial performance of the branch
• Procedure and system enhancement to improve financial monitoring and ing associated with the delivery of the capital and operational programs
• Provide training and guidance to staff and clear communications to branch staff on accounting, financial and budget matters
• Monitor the day-to-day operations of the finance team, ensuring accountability of their allocated responsibilities
• Being a positive role model and advocate for workplace health safety and wellbeing

Minimum Requirements Of The Role Include

• Degree in Accounting, Business or other financial discipline will be essential. Membership or eligibility for membership of a Professional Accounting Body is desirable (CPA/CA)
• Excellent financial and budget management knowledge and skills, with the ability to analyse, problem solve and on finance and business-related matters in accordance with organisational requirements
• Demonstrated experience leading and working as part of a high performing team to ensure achievement of outcomes including building, maintaining, and fostering good relationships with colleagues, team members and clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate financial and business-related issues clearly and concisely to non-finance professionals
• Excellent organisational and time management skills in order to simultaneously manage and monitor work programs to meet performance targets and corporate deadlines
• Self-motivated, highly organised and ability to work autonomously under limited direction and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
• Demonstrated ability to use large ERPs and the MS Office suite of software
• Possession of a “C” Class Drivers Licence
• Required to undergo a Police Check
