Logan City Council Hiring for Community Development Officer at Australia Full Time

We’re a collaborative and positively focused team on the hunt for a Community Development Officer to join us. Our work presents us with the amazing opportunity to engage with the people of Logan, utilising community assets and strengths to help build a healthy and inclusive city.

As the Community Development Officer, you will coordinate Council’s Disability Action Plan and deliver community initiatives in the portfolio areas of disability and seniors. You will listen and work with local people and groups to help them respond to and action community priorities. You will help create a connected and healthy community where everyone feels they belong and can contribute.

Who You Are

You will have the skills to maintain quality professional relationships with government agencies, elected representatives and the ability to work in partnership with community organisations and residents. You will need to be a pro-active thinker with well-developed interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude who keeps the community at the heart of all they do.  

In addition to your experience, we’re also looking for someone with the following characteristics:

• Great relationship builder who loves being out in the community listening to the needs of the community
• Ability to develop strong concepts and can follow through successfully on implementation
• Strong project and meeting facilitation skills
• Valuable team member with the ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks and ever-changing priorities
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent writing skills and can think strategically to deliver on priorities

Requirements Of The Role Include

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Development, Human Services or Social Services is highly favourable.
• Demonstrated experience in community development and an understanding of strengths-based community development theories and principles. Experience working in local government will be highly regarded.
• Significant experience in liaising and engaging with the community and elected representatives.
• Knowledge and understanding of the operations of community organisations, community governance structures and the issues facing the community sector.
• Proven experience in planning, delivering, and managing initiatives that respond to identified community priorities and opportunities.
• Demonstrated high level of communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
