LM Sandler and Sons, Inc Hiring for Assistant Controller Job at Virginia Beach, VA Full Time

A privately-held residential developer and real estate investor, with a large and growing presence in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, is currently seeking an Assistant Controller. This position will support the Corporate Controller in carrying out various responsibilities of the Accounting Department. The Assistant Controller will direct the workflow for the monthly and annual closing process, reconciliation preparation and review, and financial reporting duties in the organization. This role will involve a great deal of technical detail, a deep understanding of the fundamentals of accounting, significant documentation of processes and internal controls, and coordination of the timing of resources and deliverables within the Accounting department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports
• Assisting Corporate Controller with budgeting
• Prepares and Reviews various general ledger journal entries to support monthly and year-end closing. Reviews and posts journal entries
• Ensuring all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
• Tax documentation preparation
• Working with the company accounting team to create internal controls and policies
• Identifying solutions to discrepancies in financial records
• Thoughtfully works with teams to resolve issues, including competing demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts with other groups.
• Other duties as assigned by the Corporate Controller.

• Bachelor’s (Required)
• CPA (Preferred)
• Accounting: Minimum 5 years (Required) with job cost accounting (Preferred)
• Supervisory: Minimum 2 years (Required)
