This role sits in the Servicing Value Stream within Commercial Transformation. Created at the start of 2020, the wider team covers some of the key journeys, propositions and channels that support our Commercial customers with their everyday banking needs.

We are responsible for supporting our commercial clients with all their working capital needs, whether that be invoice finance, asset finance or the various trade instruments required to help them operate in a global market. Here’s where you’ll make a difference:
As Engineering Lead you will be responsible for one of our key delivery initiatives where Lloyds Banking Group has partnered with an exciting Fintech group to license its award winning platform to reinvent invoice finance. You’ll lead the engineering team to introduce this new platform, integrate it into the Bank and migrate our customers seamlessly to it. You’ll work alongside a Product Owner, to shape the vision for your team, set direction for the engineering team and lead technical delivery across the entire lifecycle, from idea to realisation of value.
Your team will understand the needs of the client, then design and develop solutions to meet these needs. You’ll be responsible for the development of engineering skills and ways of working for the future – alongside a challenging delivery agenda of course!
Additionally, you’ll also strive to increase Engineering efficiency, quality and release velocity whilst recruiting, retaining, and developing engineering talent within the Lab.
Fostering the right culture is key and you’ll aim to promote a “Fail Fast, Learn Faster” approach within your team, experimenting new ways of engineering, to act as a change agent for engineering and team culture. Embracing a test and learn approach, with a focus on learning and continuous improvement.
What we’d like to see from you:

Proven experience leading a successful software development team and projects – monitoring, controlling, and reporting on your team’s progress against agreed quality and performance.

Strong line and people leadership skills, you’ll be responsible for supporting your team to ensure their ability to deliver to their agreed commitments.

Good commercial awareness

Excellent technical and non-technical communication skills
-
Strong client, project sponsor and stakeholder relationship skills.

Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle and experience in end-to-end delivery of software products through both agile and waterfall methods.

Experience in leading and delivering change involving 3rd parties, collaborating and working together to achieve a shared goal.

Previous experience of mentoring members of your team to support their growth in line with individual skills and abilities.
What type of personal skills do we look for?
This is a technical role, but at this level your communication skills are often more important. That includes the ability to manage, influence and coach a wide range of stakeholders.
You’ll be comfortable working within multi-disciplinary teams, take a collaborative approach and be genuinely passionate about the field of Engineering.
You’ll have a desire to make a difference, both to your engineering work and the people you’re responsible for.
