The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics. Now over 115 years old, LSTM continues to lead in the worldwide fight against infectious diseases in over 60 countries.

Candidates will be joining LSTM at an exciting time of transformation as we look to implement a new Finance and Procurement system over the next 18 months.

Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):
o Provide advice and support to requisitioners, staff and suppliers in complying with procurement policy in a courteous, patient, and efficient manner
o Manage and own category strategies for specific areas of expenditure, including identifying opportunities for savings, threats, and risks, updating the LSTM Senior Management Group (SMG) and other relevant LSTM committees as required
o Collate and analyse data to produce reports for category management, procurement KPIs and to monitor compliance with internal and external regulations.
o Manage strategic working groups with other members of FPRS to improve processes, management of contracts, budgets and to deliver best practice from within Professional Services.
o Develop opportunities for external collaborations with other relevant organisations both within the HE sector and with other relevant bodies. Use professional networks to promote LSTM, share and learn best practice.
o Assess and review sourcing options including UK and overseas, collaborative opportunities and available frameworks, quotations and determining appropriate procurement routes to market.
o Ensure that Sustainable and responsible procurement principles are embedded within all procurement activity and throughout the LSTM supply chain.
o Be an active and collaborative member of the Procurement Team, contributing to the strategic development of procurement activity throughout organisation.
