For over 35 years, LiveBetter Community Services has been delivering specialist service provision for the

people of regional Australia. We are a not-for-profit organisation, originally formed through an

amalgamation of several like-minded, regionally based organisations, with our head office based in Orange

NSW and around 50 homes, day centres, respite cottages, offices and community hubs across Central

Queensland and regional NSW.

Currently we deliver more than 80 customer-focused service programs across the aged care, disability,

community development, child and family, Out of Home Care, clinical and mental health sectors, from offices

and facilities in more than 45 communities. We employ more than 1600 people and 400 volunteers and in

the last 12 months we provided care and support to more than 13,000 individuals and families living in

regional, rural and remote communities.

Focusing on support in the home, and connections to the community, our approach to service delivery is to

assist community members with information, linking and referrals.

The Position

Position title: Finance Business Partner – Management Services

Service Description

The LiveBetter Finance team is responsible for the financial oversight of the LiveBetter entity.

The Management Services team works collaboratively with the business units and makes an important

contribution to improving decision making capabilities and ensuring the sustainable success of the business.

Key Position Responsibilities

The primary objective of this position is to deliver proactive, relevant and timely information and insights to

key stakeholders within operational teams, to enable informed and sound commercial decision making.

Core responsibilities for this position include:

• Manage the accurate completion of monthly reporting of areas of responsibility within reporting

deadlines.

• Compile sector-specific Acquittals to responsible Funding bodies, both State and Commonwealth.

• Partnering with Operational units to enhance their short- and long-term financial goals, to provide high

quality reporting and insights to enable sound commercial decision making.

• Build professional relationships with Heads of Department staff and their teams to ensure a clear

understanding of Budgets, Results and other relevant performance measures.

• Review and continuously improve Finance systems and processes to facilitate provision of accurate,

timely and relevant financial information.

• Analyse and interpret raw data to develop valuable insights that relate to Business Strategy and

Financial Reports of business units.

• Assist in reviewing and developing commercial processes to improve Finance operations within the

business units of responsibility and internal processes to identify financial risks and areas for

improvement.

• Enhance the impact and understanding of Business Partner findings through effective communication

with department teams.

• Planning and managing the Annual Budget and Forecasting process for your business units within the

budgeting software (Adaptive Insights), including implementation of Best Practice costing and pricing

structures.

• Undertaking competitor analysis (including sector benchmarking data for Aged Care and/or Disability

Services), understanding dynamics of the industry/market in which the respective departments

operate.

• Analyse key financial drivers and compare against targets, for example indirect hours, unit cost per

hour of service delivery, coordinator/client ratios, margin per package etc. and make

recommendations for fees and charges based on competitor analysis and target margin.

• In collaboration with Operational Managers, educate Coordinators and other key staff about the

financial drivers for their business units and how they can contribute to revenue or margin uplift.

• Work with and actively support/mentor all LiveBetter Management in the financial control of

programmes under their oversight, to achieve or exceed the annual budgeted financial results.

• Support the Head of Finance – Management Services with the efficient use of LiveBetter systems

(Financial – NetSuite, Payroll-SAP, Rostering and Client Management Systems) in supporting financial

processes of complete and timely revenue claiming and accurate expense allocation;

• Promote and role model a continuous improvement culture in the financial processes that reflect Best

Practice;

• Contribute to a work environment of cooperation and respect for all employees, free from bullying

and harassment; and

• Uphold, maintain and adhere to LiveBetter standards in-line with the Code of Conduct and policies and

procedures.

Risk

Managers are risk owners and are required to create an environment where risk is accepted as a personal

responsibility of all staff, volunteers and contractors.

They should:

• Identify, record and periodically evaluate the risks in NetSuite

• Identify, record and assess the effective internal controls

• Develop treatment plan to treat high level risks in a timely manner in NetSuite

All staff must be aware of operational and business risks.

They should:

• Provide input into various risk management activities, assist in identifying risks and controls

• Report all emerging risks, issues and incidents to their manager or appropriate officer

Person Specification

Background and Experience

• Three (3) years demonstrated experience in Management Accounting and/or internal Financial

Reporting.

• Skilled Finance professional with demonstrated ability to communicate well with people at all levels.

• Motivated to constantly improve and instigate change (process transformation) and keen to develop

trusted relationships at all levels and across all departments, with an innovative and proactive

approach.

• Experience partnering with non-finance stakeholders.

• Commercially astute with strong financial analysis skills, ability to understand underlying business

drivers.

• Ability to interpret information and present insights in an influential way.

• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deliverables within tight reporting

deadlines.

• Able to work in an efficient manner, both autonomously and within a team.

• Willingness to be involved in ad-hoc projects and assist with systems and reporting issues across the

Finance team; and

• Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in the Finance processes.

Essential

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent).

• Practical application and knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and procedures.

• Demonstrated ability to:

o Manage the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss effectively.

o Interpret and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

o Transform financially unsustainable services or business lines to meet/exceed budgeted

expectations.

• Mentor financial acumen of operations management.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Experience developing and using Database applications (for example Power BI and MS Access).

• Experience in co-ordinating, or actively participating, in a change of finance systems that involved re-

engineered processes.

• Experience with improvements in management reporting and analysis, including KPI performance

monitoring and development of dashboard reporting.

• Advanced interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with an ability to

provide concise management and financial reports.

• Excellent attention to detail; and

• Current Australian Drivers Licence.

Desirable

• Professional qualifications (CA or CPA);

• Experience in Financial Accounting;

• Experience with NDIS Financial processes;

• Understanding of activity-based costing and unit pricing;

• Experience in understanding external markets and competitor analysis

• Exposure to NetSuite financial software; and

• Exposure to Adaptive Insights budgeting software.

From time to time there may be occasions when travel to other centres within NSW & QLD may be required.
